I have thoughts that we need things to get really bad.....

I have thought that for America to recover from TACO things needed to get really bad. Not that I hoped they would but we need the maga base, at least a large part of it to be shocked out of their cult. Ie TACO being so obviously deranged that none can deny it. TACO leaving this mortal coil, as a martyr or being removed by Dems somehow will not be enough to kill or wreaking the cult that supports him and the fascist/authoritarians using the cult to try to take over America. We need the Republican Party to jointly remove him. And they really do not want to do that as it will destroy the party, for years and they know it. But we need the cult to implode. And for that to happen, I think it will need to get really bad. Hard to know if this is the beginning of the end, and of course couch boy who would replace him is worse in some ways. But he would not have the cult followers in the same way. Anyway I am babbling, as the great Yogi is reputed to have said, “It is hard to make predictions especially about the future.”

it's a matter of been there, done that for them. No lessons have been learned, no remorse is felt, and no thought is given to the effects of their actions. They will marry a new cause and become a**hole nee Maga nee deplorable.

I have similar thoughts.

In fact I think that he has benefitted from many of the countermeasures that have prevented those really bad outcomes.

On domestic policy, he has been thwarted more than a few times by the courts. In his first administration, he was thwarted by some of his staff realizing he was extreme and circumventing him.

I think in many ways, he has been protected from the worst disasters by being derailed. In a different universe where he actually got his way more often in his first term, I think he would have been disgraced to the point of not being re-elected.

Not saying it was a bad thing to counteract him. Just wondering if we just prolonged the pain until he found a way to break us even worse.

Many what ifs, that we cannot know what the outcome would have been. We have no choice but to fight for the future we would like to see.
