Eric Swalwell said Sunday he would withdraw from the California governors race in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct that led to a nearly immediate campaign collapse, as staffers quit and prominent Democratic supporters urged him to drop out.
I am suspending my campaign for Governor, he posted on X. To my family, staff, friends, and supporters, I am deeply sorry for mistakes in judgment Ive made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegations that have been made but thats my fight, not a campaigns.'

(7,849 posts)He had several inappropriate relationships with young female staffers (while married) but is claiming he didnt do anything illegal. Since New York is now criminally investigating him, theyll make a decision if the SA accusation is able to be prosecuted or not and a jury can decide if hes guilty or not.

(54,097 posts)believe he got loaded and cheated on the wife, but the allegation seems more violent and that doesn't seem like Swalwell. Add to that the timing, the affiliation of someone associated with Katie Porter and the fact we didn't hear a peep about anything remotely like this as recently as an election a year and a half ago. I don't know. Best he dropped out of the election, though. Just hope California doesn't get stuck with a Republican governor.
