Let's look at this from another angle. Let's review Susan Collins's record:

Supporter of pedophiles

Voted with trump 96% of the time

Supported disenfranchising women and people of color through her support of the SAVE Act and her opposition to the John R Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Had the chance to be the deciding vote to force the exposure of dark money in elections in the Disclose Act, but instead voted against it.

Was one of the deciding votes to put Kavanaugh, an unqualified sexual assaulter, on the Supreme Court. She said she voted for him because he told her he would respect Roe V Wade. But did he? It seems she always votes to confirm judicial nominees with records defending abortion bans, restricting access to medication abortion, and advocating against reproductive rights.

She has voted for 95% of Cankles's judicial nominees. All of whom are chosen for their stances against women's rights, voting rights, environmental protections, medical safety rights, social service protections, etc.

Confirmed obvious lunatic appointments like RFK Jr, Joe Kent, Tulsi Gabbard, Pam Bondi, Jeanine Pirro,

Voted against impeaching Cankles, saying she thought he had "learned a pretty big lesson."

Here's what John Fredericks, a conservative radio host said of her:

Well, the bottom, the bottom line is, look Susan Collins, every important vote in history, she's been there for us, every single one, and the votes where she voted, no it didn't matter, because we weren't going to get there any there anyway, or we already had enough positive votes. But when her vote mattered, she's never abandoned us, not one time she personally saved justice Kavanaugh with that speech she made in the well, I gave her a pass for that. That was one of the greatest speeches ever made.

This is just a taste of the damage she has done over the last 30 years. Imagine where we would be today if ANYONE had been able to credibly oppose her a decade or two or three ago.

concerns about her, but I think maybe she has learned her lesson. I wish her well in her new pursuit running a lovely boutique, selling candles or driftwood or lapidary.

Seashells.

Lobster rolls.

Dreamcatchers.

Just pick a direction, Susie, and head that way.

Never turn back.

I'm so sick of her whole, "I'm such a ditzy confused old lady, you can't be mad at me" schtick. She always knows exactly what she's doing. All those dramatic moments of "I'm undecided" were just bids for attention. She was never undecided.

I can't stand her.

Playing the "ditzy confused old lady", rather than the hardcore manipulative right-winger that she is.

She's been playing this game for too long and I think that even she knows her career is probably coming to an end. Voters who used to think that she was the safe choice are starting to see her true colors.

Sounds like material for an SNL sketch.

She leans into her speech disorder every chance she gets, and it's nothing more than an affectation.

I don't know who she's working for, but it sure ain't US.

Thanks for the discussion, Scrivener7.

for Democrats. I'm not from Maine so I don't get to decide, but seems greatest opposition to him is from outside Maine so I'll throw in my two cents as well.

which helps us get the majority, which helps us get control of the committees, which puts us in the position of deciding what legislation gets considered.

We need that seat. Even if he turns out to be a giant alien slug who eats dogs, we'd be better off with him than with her.

Well ... maybe not the dogs part.

That's the key question. I doubt the news media can be depended upon to convey these things (or even a few of them) to the public.

But we can be sure, any tiny little allegation against Platner, regardless of how ridiculous it is and untrue it's proven to be, will likely be reported, especially by Fox "Fixed" News.

many are true. The actions all involve consenting adults, though. As for the tattoo and the sexist and racist comments, perhaps he truly has become more enlightened since he did or said them. I can't tell.

But Mainers seem to believe he is reformed. And as I said above, we need a Democratic ass in that Senate seat as part of the effort to gain a majority in the Senate and start repairing the damage that has been done to our country.

If it's Platner's ass, so be it.
