https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/944984/shelbyville-indiana-mayor-shitty-houses-data-centerA proposed $2 billion data center has become a political flashpoint in the small city of Shelbyville, Indiana. And the controversy has only grown more intense after the mayor, Scott Furgeson, was caught on camera saying of the No Data Center signs going up that, Ive seen a lot of these all over town, but I only see them in shitty houses, before adding, most of them are rentals.
The woman speaking to him in the clip quickly pushes back, saying that theyre working class, and someone chimes in to add something that a mayor shouldnt have to be told about their constituents: it doesnt matter whether theyre rentals, theyre still human beings.
Residents of Shelbyville are understandably taken aback by Furgesons dismissive language used towards his constituents. Alexas Williams called the mayors words kind of disrespectful and kind of hurtful when speaking to local NBC affiliate WTHR.

OP
I'm sure the mayor wouldn't object if they built these data centers next to all the expensive houses.

the people who live in "shitty" houses outnumber those who don't, we will see true change.
Just another republican trying to unite showing their true colors.

Maybe they need to start sharing in the fun of having their properties ruined.
