If the pool lining had been cut with a knife, the clean cut would be evidence. And it be be different

from a tear, as the cut would be clean and or sharp IMHO.
But no one is talking about preserving this evidence--not Trump nor his pals.
Instead Trump just continues to claim the pool lining cut cut-slashed and the media keeps reporting it.

claim that there was a about a 300 foot long CUT in the pool lining would mean the length/size of the supposed CUT with a knife would be a little less than the Length of a football field.
This would take a long time to do and the pool is under observation by a camera from what I have read.

I was just trying to imagine how big this supposed cut was.

https://coversports.com/resources/field-guides/professional-football-field-dimensions-guide

Diagram illustrating official NFL football field dimensions, including total field length, width, end zones, hash marks, and yard line measurements used in the NFL

An NFL football field measures 120 yards long by 53⅓ yards wide (360 ft × 160 ft), with two 10-yard end zones and hash marks spaced 18 feet 6 inches apart. Total playing area is 57,600 square feet.

Getting the dimensions right on a professional football field makes a big difference. Accurate measurements help ensure the field is safe, meets league standards, and supports smooth game-day operations. From field width to hash mark spacing, every detail affects how the game plays and how the field is maintained. This guide covers all the standard field specifications and offers practical tips for selecting field covers, sideline tarps, and goalpost padding sized for regulation NFL fields.

Why would cutting paint make it come off in sheets?
Unless, of course, it was applied poorly & the added water before it was cured.
In which case, cutting it had nothing to do with it.

If it had been done correctly, even someone cutting it (which I don't believe) would cause it to spall in chunk.
I actually think it had time to cure, though.
The chemistry suggests 90% curing in about 4 hours; 99% plus in 24 hours.
The kinetic rate is fairly high for an in situ reaction with no mixing to enhance mass transfer.
My guess is that it would be 5-10% cured by the time an area is fully coated by roller.
I know a guy that had that done on his garage floor. They told him to wait 6 hours before parking in there.
That's consistent with what I can estimate as a kinetic rate.
I think it more likely that the surface prep was botched by The Failure's buddy.

I also have concerns that they didn't dry it thoroughly.
Once moisture is trapped behind the lining, temperature increases changes the equilibrium between liquid & vapor. As the vapor fraction increases & so does the pressure.
So, since the volume has to increase to relieve the pressure. The only way to increase volume is for the lining to spall.

I think Trump looked at the central line that was visible through the in paint, had no idea what he was looking at, and decided it was a slash - because nothing else (In his mind) would make a straight line.

The peeling paint is an entirely different matter. I think that's just bubbling up because the surface wasn't prepared properly, was filled with water too soon, and had corrosive chemicals dumped in it. He just conflated the two.

a swimming pool company from Florida that had no knowledge about working on structures
such as the reflecting pool, he had a fleet of S.U.V.s drive over it before it was set up, millions
of dollars got grifted, ignored experts about albedo, ignored experts about algae, changed the
structure’s design that had areas that allowed some water to escape from the bottom of the pool,
dumped shit loads of H2O2 into the pool, and then blamed other people for what happened.

The Reflecting Pool was working just fine and the National Parks Service had it under control.

upkeep, maintenance, and repairs. However I remember seeing that they throw away some
kind of rubbery material that went in between the joints of the granite and I would GUESS those
joints allowed for some water to seep out from under the pool and into the ground and with the
water table there only being a few feet down the soil would be pretty much saturated and so
the water would drain away slowly.

Before “they” fixed it where were the engineering studies, the hydrogeologists, the fresh water
ecologists, and the vetting of the contractors?

These pools had, kids, teens, grownups and even dogs in them. I don't remember seeing paint peeling. When I have been in these pools, some of these pools have rough surfaces, some smooth, but I don't think I could have even gotten the paint off with a knife. There are plastic liners that could possibly by cut, but that would be a different animal. No question at all that the Idiot in Chief and his pool boy are incompetent.

Yes, the pool was vandalized. The same vandals also vandalized a wing of the White House and the White House gardens.
