A sign of the times?

I recently took a road trip from Minnesota down to Arkansas and back. I've driven the route before, and I'm accustomed to seeing a fair number of Trump signs along the highway.

This time, on the way down, I saw only one Trump sign - faded, forlorn, and neglected. On the return trip, I again saw only one Trump sign, but this one was different. It was new, large, and well-made, and read:

I VOTED FOR TRUMP.
I MADE A MISTAKE.
I'M SORRY.

and then translates into mid-term votes for D not R or (more likely) huge numbers of those regretful folks not voting at all.

If the mojo has waned, as I'm hearing from others as well as the OP, that might be what happens. They've not seen the light by any means. But they're not happy with inflation through the roof, a foreign quagmire, and associated sky high gas prices that aren't coming down much any time soon. They don't necessarily need to vote Dem, they just need to sit this one out.

5. Here in Redlandia there is only 1 Trump flag in the north valley and 1 in the south valley.

There is also a Burma Shave style series of signs on the main highway, that have been updated several times, that is very critical of Trump and his policies. Just after Trump's 2024 election the scene was entirely different. The times they are a changin".

6. I'm seeing fewer Trump signs in SW Arkansas and all of them are old.

Arkansas will probably not vote for a Democrat is any state-wide election in my lifetime. The Bubbas will be slow forgiving the Democrats for putting a Black man in the White House as anything but a servant.

Now barely any Con candidates have ads or billboards with him in it. I've only seen like two still maga ing up

15. were you on major highways?

I'm a birder, and I drive through rural parts of Iowa and Illinois frequently. Once you get away from the Interstate, Trump signs become way more common.

16. Yes, mostly Interstate. I'm pretty sure the sign I spotted in southern Minnesota is the one pictured in reply #1.

That same route used to have numerous Trump signs, so it was nice that this time I saw almost none, except for this one sign of regret and repentance.

We might never see the day that the visual blight of Trump signs has disappeared from the landscape entirely, but at least it seems to be moving in the right direction.
