Was denied entry at the front door. Snuck around back but that door was locked. Climbed up a fire escape and then a drain pipe on the side of the building but his weight caused the bolts to break and swung out over the alley. Then the pipe broke and he fell into a dumpster filled with garbage which broke his fall. But then sliped on a banana peel causing him to fly in to the air, landing on his and cracking his skull on an empty bottle of Diet Coke.

Could apply in slightly different form. So the story goes: Dorothy Parker responds to a friend's telegram announcing Calvin Coolidge's death with her own wire, " How can you tell?"
How will we tell? Hoping the event will not go off like so many horror movie twists at the end when the monster or serial murderer suddenly sits up and must still be dispatched.
