Republicans assume Trump lied.

If you have noticed, anytime they are asked a question about something Trump has said, they immediately go into a defensive mode and make up some story that will not piss off their boss. For example, if you ask them about the Reflection Pool, you will not get a straight answer. They will to a person, attempt to cover for Trump's lie that it was "vandals" that did the damage to the Pool. Or if you ask them about what happened on January 6th, you will never get a straight answer. They will feel the necessity to cover up for Donald Trump.

That is who they have become. A Party that lies every time they are asked to explain the comments of their Leader? They are likely to turn the question around and tell you what a great job Trump has done and question where we would be if Joe Biden was in charge?

They are predictable. They assume before hand, that if asked about something Trump said, that he lied and they must come up with a response that sounds logical but covers Trump's ass at the same time. It is a tightrope they must walk to be a member of the Republican caucus.

And it is so obvious.

They attempt to deceive the questioner but it is nothing less than another lie.

It's not just the caucus, it's ALL OF THEM. Conservatives come off, to a person, like a Borg-like hive mind. They ALL "argue exactly the same". It's becomes truly freakish once you've seen 50+ different people not just arguing from the same set of talking points, but arguing the same WAY.

First and foremost, if they believe you're liberal, they will never, ever, ever admit they're wrong or that you've made your case, about anything, ever. Even if they know they are themselves full of shit, it's more important to annoy the liberal they're speaking with over anything else.

The corollary to this is they have absolutely no concept of intellectual integrity, or if they do, they assign it zero value. Logical consistency is for suckers and losers, or so they seem to think.

They also either can not, or will not, understand analogies, esp. if you refute their argument via analogy. They'll find some totally illogical reason why the analogy you've made, that lays bare their fallacious reasoning, is really NOT equivalent, even though it absolutely is perfectly equivalent.

And when all else fails, they just move the goalposts and/or impugn your source(s). Like WITHOUT FAIL in these past 28 years. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them does all of the above, and the consistency is uncanny. IF they think you're a liberal who's arguing with them, their entire goal in the conversation is to annoy the shit out of you, and never give you the satisfaction of hearing them say "you've made your point", "I guess I was wrong", etc.
