"Affordability? What're you talking about?" the lawmaker said. "I'm gonna go there tomorrow, well over the Fourth. I'm gonna get me a couple of big lobster tails, I'm gonna get me some nice ribeyes. I'm gonna sit in my backyard with my family, my neighbors, and we're going to be enjoying the Fourth, celebrating 250 years."

Uh, do you forget who you serve? Do you think you serve a convicted felon and not your constituents? Or do you not even pretend you do? And you insinuate the people dont work as hard as you do - as if people cant both work hard and have struggles. Is it all about you? Ive heard tone deaf statements in politics before, but this is up there.
If you were in a swing district, and we had a more informed electorate, say goodbye to your job, but the American electorate can be wildly uninformed and this *is* Texas. So .

Lobster tails and ribeyes
Prices for lobster tails range from roughly $6 to $40 per tail, depending on size and whether they are frozen or fresh. In most markets, the per-tail cost climbs with weight and if the tails are sourced fresh rather than thawed. Assumptions: region, tail size, and whether the product is sold frozen or fresh are primary cost factors.
Ribeye cost per pound varies widely by grade, cut type, and sourcing. The per-pound range commonly spans from roughly $9 to $40 in U.S. markets when including specialty options like grass-fed, organic, or Prime bone-in selections. For budgeting, consider three core price bands: basic boneless Choice ribeye in supermarkets, Premium bone-in Prime ribeye from butcher shops or specialty markets, and specialty grass-fed/organic options which often sit at the upper end.

is like a surgeon blaming the patient because it died. Let the Greens and the Libertarians do that.

So is getting smacked in the face by reality. The flip side of hubris. Its very human to think the entire universe actually works like it does between ones ears. It doesnt much of the time.

Manríquez then pressed him: "You think 60 percent of Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck can afford lobster tails and ribeyes and all that?"
"Maybe not," Nehls said. "Maybe the 60 percent of Americans don't work as hard as I do either. I mean, I don't know."

What an asshole. Most full time workers work 250 days a year. He maybe worked 150. He thinks since he gets paid a high salary for less work means he's working harder. I guarantee that almost all of those people working paycheck to paycheck work far harder than he ever has in his life. He is just pathetic.
