U.S. Air Force Officer Arrested on Capitol Steps for Call to Impeach Trump: ‘The Bill Must Come Due’

Air Force Major Jason Watson was arrested on the Capitol Steps Wednesday after taking part in a protest that called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

Watson, an active member of the Air Force, delivered a speech ahead of his arrest. He listed several perceived crimes committed by the president and vice president.

“Our Constitution binds us all together as Americans. Like countless veterans before me, military members serving now, I’ve devoted my life in service to our Democratic Republic,” Watson said. “Always doing my best to honor my oath and protect America against foreign threats. But the greatest threat to our Democratic Republic is not a foreign one. It is us, we the people, not just the left or just the right or just the center, all of us together define who we are as Americans, and like it or not, we have all played a part, myself included, in getting ourselves into this mess we are all in.”

If our Democratic members of Congress had the courage to do something like this !! Any attempt to break through the Fox “news” - (etc.) barrier is good with me. I’m going to write this patriot a thank you note. 🤓

I saw a discussion about the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) saying that you can't criticize the Commander in Chief while in uniform. But civil authorities don't enforce the UCMJ.

the steps. You may not stand, congregate or whatever on steps. Makes sense. They’d have hundreds of people on them every day.

I wonder if he'll get a pardon for any Federal offense -- as did the Nazo-mofos that 6th of January?

not, and could not wear my officer's uniform in defiance of civil authority knowing the consequences of such -- banana republic coups etc.

Thank you for your service and commitment to this country. While I wasn’t in the service I was active in speaking out and marching during those years. We had a memorial in our front yard for four years. We marked each loss of American service members there. Everything about that war was wrong. At that time you could still call all Congress members regardless of your state of residence. I would call each one and beg for the stop of such a devastating war. Unfortunately at this time the war has turned on this country and the people here. You will be hard pressed to talk with any congressional staff member at this time. At this point decorum is out the window. I feel like this action was as peaceful as could be and still receive the attention it deserves.

If you identify yourself - even out of uniform - as a service member it is a crime under the UCMJ. Especially for an officer.

Odd that if he was a Russian officer protesting Putin, he would be cheered here. (By most. But not all….)

Makes me wonder if that’s because way too many people are trying the link at the same time, OR perhaps there are others deliberately mucking with the link, so it won’t open.

He has more guts in his little finger then all of Congress put together, his guts are going to cost him his career. The Air Force is going to make an example out of him. I would expect a reduction in rank to O1 , forfeiture of all benefits, dishonorable discharge and if he is lucky...no confinement.
