What a fucking disgrace and dump on the United States this half-ass, shoddy, last second thrown together event this is for our 250th anniversary.
Just like the National Park Service was shafted for Chump's vanity projects. He let his buddy chainsaw their employees and budgets just so he could divert it to enshittifying our nation's capital with fake gold, slippery when wet granite on an outside walkway, etc. and all the demolition, destruction, algae, dead grass, puke-face giant banners, etc. Now they're diverting the NPS personnel to this event, because it's soooooo crowded.
I was going to say those who signed the Declaration of Independence are rolling in their graves but I'm going to change that to everyone who has ever died and been buried in the history of the US are rolling in their graves at this depravity.

(2,140 posts)Maybe you've never actually been to a State Fair in the US? For 250 years, I'm pretty sure hibachi rice bowls were represented maybe 2% of the time.
And do you really think there IS a diversity of cuisine at this thing? There isn't even the most basic State Fair food available that people associate it with: cotton candy (yeah, I said food loosely), fresh squeezed lemonade, funnel cakes, outrageous hot dog type things and lots of junk food frozen and other wise.
But there's mall food - hibachi rice bowl. That's more of an insult to ethnic food than cotton candy is to real food.
State Fair is usually live animals, home made pickles and pies and whatever is relevant to a particular state. I can't imagine one state in America wanting Hibachi Express representing their ethnic culture.

(2,140 posts)folks who participate in west coast state fairs who are just dying to fly to DC and get some Express Hibachi Rice Bowls, because they'll be so authentic, so real, so ETHNIC to them and their culture on the west coast.

(24,671 posts)Do you?
Your OP seemed to imply that ethnic cuisine had no place at a fair celebrating America
I disagree.
BTW, if youre ever in Portland, OR there are clusters of state fair type food carts throughout the city serving every type of cuisine and some unimaginable fusion combinations
