Anyone pick up on a reason that Clarence Thomas visited Mike Johnson?

I haven't had the time to research all the potential flaws in a post that is circulating around, but I think it's worth putting out a call to DU to see if one of you can find a legitimate source (and explanation.) Hopefully someone on DU has already posted about this. Basically, the Congress now has enough inside information on what went on with the birthright situation with the Court to know how to snake their way into a change by Statute, and not an Amendment,(which they will never succeed in doing.) The Court is stolid in supporting birthright citizenship because it's a Constitutional Amendment, but an insider told Congress (probably Thomas) that the other conservos, believe that there is a way to skirt around this.

Basically, the key point is that someone told Congress that Kavanaugh's vote will change if certain things are met. Maybe even the other two knuckleheads will also follow. They say that Congress can pass a statute based on a majority vote, and does not require an amendment, which needs more votes. This is the part that I thought was funky. They said that it could be passed if the legislation could be introduced as a change in policy, because the Conservatives on the Court feel policy changes are within the legislature's jurisdiction. And what they are going to do (or start out with) is to ensure that foreigners who come to America to birth their babies just for citizenship reasons and go back to their countries with an American citizen child that take advantage of benefits, can be denied. In other words, they're starting by putting an end to tourist birthright travel.

Now it doesn't take much intelligence to figure out that from here, ALL children born to foreigners are going to be denied citizenship. Which means the right can deport the undocumented parents and their American children as well.

Sorry I can't give you more. It's a busy day for me, but I thought this was important. Certainly makes sense that it was important for Thomas to make an unprecedented visit to Johnson. These men are so corrupt that they're colluding in broad daylight with the cameras rolling.

Someone is planning their retirement and looking to solidify their next gig as a lobbyist.

Probably both. Neither of those two does anything that is above board and not borne of personal gain.
