'Total disaster' at Trump's fair as scorching heat leaves 7 on 'advanced life support'

Heat can kill fast. trump did no planning for heat and medical emergencies

A reporter braving a blistering heat wave at President Donald Trump's Great American State Fair described chaos at the event as paramedics raced to save attendees, with seven said to be on "advanced life support" in the hospital.

Julian Andreone of Drop Site News was on the ground Friday at the fair detailing what he called a "hectic" scene.

"It really is hectic. It's chaotic. It's a total disaster," Andreone said. "They haven't planned for this at all."

As Andreone recorded the conditions, multiple people ran past carrying cold water to help their loved ones who had fainted. During one 71-second clip, Andreone recorded two people racing past him and an ambulance arriving separately with a siren blaring.

"People are profusely sweating and need water," he said.

Andreone reported in an X update that "7 people are on advanced life support in the hospital."

In another clip from the event, Andreone points to another person lying down in the back of an EMS truck making its way across the lawn. The event had already been temporarily shut down earlier in the day as the record heat gripped Washington, with organizers planning to reopen at 5 p.m.

The Smithsonian had this all under control but Trump came in and changed the name from
America 250 to Freedom 250, chased the Smithsonian away, and then stole all the money. Impeach-
ment procedures should start Monday morning along with a court filed injunction to stop Trump from
fucking up the White House more and the statues behind the Lincoln Memorial.

However the good side to these medical causalities is that they are most likely Trump supporters.

It is 9:20 PM and it is 96 F there right now.

They threw up cheap booths that are filled with corporate logos. They probably charged the corporations to do the displays, but even that was done last minute and poor quality.

Absolutely zero consideration for the human beings attracted to this con. No cooling rooms, no mist machines, no water stations. I read that attendees aren't allowed to bring their own food or drinks and the vendors are charging outrageous fees for a bottle of water and mediocre food.

I've seen articles raising concerns about the food not being kept in cold or sanitary conditions, so I imagine there may be food poisoning as well.

The whole thing is a shocking disgrace.

Every wedding and reception I planned, if it was outside during July, even in f'n, Beaverton or Portland OR, we ordered misters and mister tents with chairs and tables, for our elderly attendees. And yes, I made sure there were floral arrangements for those folks too.

This is not a celebration, at Our House. trump has bastardized it into something unrecognizable.

not even on the beach, nor am I a sun worshiper. And it was February. Another time, I experienced heat exhaustion when the a/c in the mall where I worked went down. In Houston. In July.

Granted, those two incidents are a bit on the unusual side. I know I am weirdly sensitive to my environment. Therefore, I pay attention, and try not to do anything truly stupid.

of people so fucking stupid that they either did not pay any attention to the weather reports, or were too damned stupid to realize they were getting sick. If any minor children are amoung the stricken, then I say the parents, if they survive, should be charged with child abuse.

My state is on fire right now, with a drought, extreme heat, high winds. Even though we are miles from the fires, the heat wave, and the smoke from the fires, are keeping those who can, indoors. Outdoor activities, including fireworks, cancelled.

If I sound harsh tonight, it is because Ii hate the harm that stupidity causes, harm that the rest of us pay for.

Actual state fairs tend to have plenty of covered areas with picnic tables in the shade.

The whole thing should have been planned for earlier or later in the year. I realize that only locals (within 200-300 miles) could attend during the school, but homeschooled and religious private schools might take time to go.

Heat stroke is a very serious and truly life-threatening condition. I didn't realize just how serious it is, until I researched it just now. I had it mixed up in my mind with heat exhaustion, which is much less severe. This graphic sums things up pretty well, for anyone else who may not be fully informed:

Even if they are all diehard MAGA cultists (and we don't know that they are), I hope these people all come through okay. Voting for an asshole for potus should not carry the death penalty.

With the way the planet is heating up, I think we would all do well to thoroughly familiarize ourselves with how to recognize these conditions.

Anyone choosing to be outside in the kind of weather Washington DC and other parts of the US are experiencing right now needs to take particular care. A lot of people seem to feel like they should just try to push through the heat when they should be exerting themselves as little as possible, looking for shade, and drinking water like it's going out of style. Ignoring the very real dangers of getting overheated is what leads to incidents like the ones at the so-called Great American State Fair.

in the deadly heat, or bitter cold. I can forego activities and events as needed. Right now, we have what used to be a rare heat event, and is now becoming the norm. Add to that the smoke and haze, because my state is burning. I was out at 7 to tend to my garden. Inside I will no doubt stay until sunset.

There was a report from fire and emergency that 11 people were transported, 4 received basic life support and 7 advanced life support.

Life support in an EMS setting is very different from the hospital.

The difference in BLS and ALS in an ambulance would be that the ALS bus administered an IV.

So to say that 7 people are at the hospital on life support is not something that was communicated or confirmed.

This was totally preventable. The Smithsonian has an extended folklife festival on the Mall every year during the summer. They know how to do these things. Any decent party planner knows how to do these things. But Trump’s ‘friends’ at Freedom 250 have no clue. It was obvious at least a week ago that there needed to be special precautions taken for the extraordinary heat. It appears that the Freedom 250 planners did not take them.

There is already an air quality alert for DC. Imagine what it will be like tomorrow during Trump’s flyovers and after the massive fireworks. If I lived in DC I’d get out.

Yes, the MAGAts are stupid for showing up, but they're tourists and most tourists are pretty oblivious. I doubt Fox News alerted them to potential dangers. Even if they did, I’m sure they felt confident that Papa Trump would take care of them. They probably think that they’re being patriotic in their own inimitable way. Some people have to learn through hard experience.

I just hope that once this fiasco is over there is an investigation into this whole thing and that people are held accountable. It will be unnecessarily prolonged and painful, but it needs to be done.

Feds tout 'well-prepared' Trump fair after blistering heat wave hospitalized attendees

Raw Story (@rawstory.com) 2026-07-04T02:02:46Z

https://www.rawstory.com/great-american-state-fair-2677157111

Federal officials described President Donald Trump's July 4 celebration as "safe" and "well-prepared" just hours after a record heat wave forced organizers to shut down the Great American State Fair and paramedics rushed to aid attendees, several of whom were reportedly hospitalized.

In a joint statement Friday, Freedom 250, the U.S. Park Police, the National Park Service, the Secret Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency said they had coordinated to expand cooling resources, water stations and medical support for the "Salute to America" event.

"We are proud to welcome the public to a safe, well-prepared, and truly memorable celebration of America's 250th birthday," the statement read.

Safe and well prepared? With people hospitalized for overheating, and stage incident that could have killed someone, with something falling and almost hitting a performer? Does that sound safe and well prepared?
