How many MAGAts fall into this category?

46% of polled Americans don’t know that the acceptance of the Declaration of Independence is what July 4th is about; 40% didn’t know it was separation from British rule! Geez, there are a LOT of uneducated people in the US…..just being indoctrinated by Fox faux news. Just a reason to party and shoot off fireworks I guess. Idiots……

Yeah...you know who didn't fair well in the tests...about the USA

It's an odd mix. As usual you can quibble with the phrasing of some of the questions.

The bottom line is something we already knew, which is that Americans - always fairly ignorant of our own history and woefully ignorant of world history - seems to have become even more ignorant of our own history. For what it's worth, civics is taught in schools (e.g. Florida civics literary requirements are here). It isn't sticking for some reason. Culturally not encouraged? Student apathy?

Regardless of the ignorance, opinions are strong and pride is high, and what's more American than having super strong, uninformed, opinions? : - )
