(15,747 posts)I remember about 60k+ people attended in the ticketed area, with probably another 50k setting up outside the area beyond the plastic "fencing".
More than the first or second DJT inauguration....
What I see in that picture is about the size of a crowd queuing up to get to the Washington Monument or any of the Smithsonians before they open on a comfortable Memorial Day weekend.

(2,785 posts)I'm sure tonight will be very quiet here on DU with everyone at the big party (not).

(82,400 posts)The Great American State Fair and FIFA Fan Zone on the National Mall will open at noon Saturday, two hours later than originally planned, because of the extreme heat, organizers announced Friday.
The delay is the latest weather-related schedule change from Freedom 250 as Washington, D.C., faces another day of dangerous triple digit heat.

(54,181 posts)Of all the things they could do on such a dangerously hot day and this is what they chose?
This day could produce a lot of new Darwin Awards.

(18,509 posts)I still wouldn't have gone. This heat is dangerous. I've already gone through a bout of heatstroke . I'm not eager to repeat the experience.

(54,181 posts)What on earth is the attraction other than possible heat stroke?
How about a trip to the beach or a swimming pool? Even a movie in an airconditioned theater? From what I've seen, there is nothing in DC right now worth the trip even if the weather was better. The green reflecting pool enclosed by a fence? The National Guard patrolling the grounds? And of course, there's the insanely overpriced food and beverages.
I really don't get it.
