America is a smoldering pile of rubble this July 4 -- and this absurd law is to blame

America wasn't exactly perfect before the Trump/MAGA pestilence. There were certainly failings. But author David Fagin clearly defines what's different this time, and why.

A great read:

America is a smoldering pile of rubble this July 4 — and this absurd law is to blame - Rawstory via MSN

I loved America before the Mad King took the reins. I loved it when the Supreme Court effectively decided a presidential election over a hanging chad. I loved it when a president lied about an affair with an intern. I loved it when a president’s entire Cabinet lied about weapons of mass destruction. And I loved it when a president wore a tan suit.

Call me crazy, but I love the America that practices what it preaches. Or, at least, used to preach.

The one that welcomes people with open arms. The one that believes everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue happiness. The one that believes helping those less fortunate is more important, and much more rewarding, than adding another zero to your bank account. The one that values compassion. Ethics. Tolerance. Decency. And Character and Accountability over Hate and Lies and Bigotry and Misogyny.

However, as dim as the future looks, we’re not done yet. In a few short months, it'll once again be up to us to decide whether we want to continue living under the hand of an unhinged wannabe autocrat who can barely spell ‘c-a-t’ without assistance—or whether "We the People" still possess the courage, and the desire, to reclaim what has been taken from us.

Have a happy 4th, in the hopes of a much better one, next time around.

Not one mention of the headline material is in the post. Instead, lots of irrelevant noise.

No, I will not take the bait and click to find out what the OP intended to say.

It's not hard to copy and paste the gist of a piece. Or even type a summary. Especially since the OP conceals the actual source URL of the link. That smells funny to me. Maybe we don't want to give traffic to that site.

In this day and age we must be cautious of our clix.

as to what the article is about, in spite of your determined refusal to enlighten yourself.

However, seeing as how you've instead chosen to question motives (either the author's or my own)

and assuming you aren't here just to troll the post via 'drive-by' postings, allow me to respond.

The article consists of numerous paragraphs that build up to the passages I chose to post - i.e. why the author loved America before Trump.

As you may or may not know, we have a four paragraph limit in posting excerpts. So I chose that four, again assuming readers would avail themselves of the provided link to get the full commentary. I even suggested it as a great read.

I chose those excerpts (keeping limits in mind) because, imo, they SUPPORTED the premise of the title - what America had become,

That, imo, was the lead.. 'Relevancy,' your opinion.

Sometimes one can do only so much to lead to the 'water.' Refusal to 'drink,' entirely your option.

Have a great day.
