The meaning of 1776 and the definition of patriot

The Declaration of Independence is a resounding attack on the concept of the divine rights of kings. Our Founding Fathers believed that no man had a Godly right to rule over others.

The Declaration points out that no man who was as big a piece of shit as George III could possibly be divinely chosen.

Those who claim divine warrant today cannot possibly be patriots and Jefferson, Adams and Washington would agree.

I can think of no greater dividing line between “us” and “them.”

A call to stop passively relying on "providence" alone and do some heavy lifting.
