https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/03/us/politics/trump-pardon-clean-air-act.htmlThe president used his clemency power to further undermine environmental laws and to help a political supporter who pleaded guilty in a fraud involving Jack Abramoff.
The White House announced on Friday that President Trump had issued pardons to 11 men, most of whom had been convicted of crimes related to the Clean Air Act, a bedrock environmental law.
The president also pardoned Adam Kidan, a major donor to Republicans, including Mr. Trump. He had served about two and a half years in prison for his role in a fraud scheme involving the disgraced former lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
The Clean Air Act pardons benefited people who had sold or installed devices for diesel trucks that defeated their emissions controls, making them far more polluting. It was the latest move by the Trump administration to undermine laws intended to fight climate change and curb air pollutants that harm human health.
Republicans and their allies in the business community have cast enforcement of the Clean Air Act as a hindrance to commerce and an undue burden to those who rely on diesel engines.

SunCruz fraudster Adam Kidan who paid Trump millions draws pardon from Trump
... The Palm Beach Gardens resident, who served less than half of a 70-month federal prison sentence for fraud and conspiracy in the 2000 purchase of SunCruz Casinos, immediately saw both his status as a felon and his obligation to pay restitution ($21.7 million plus interest thats been accumulating since his March 2006 conviction) dissolve. He pleaded guilty along with ex-super lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
There is no indication in Kidans Miami court file that he ever paid any of the millions he owed to his victims, who include the now-grown sons of SunCruz and Miami Subs founder Konstantinos Gus Boulis, Aristotle and Alexander Hren-Boulis. Their father was shot to death on Feb. 6, 2001, on Miami Road near Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale by a Mafia hitman. Kidans mob associate later pleaded guilty ...

... Fifteen years after serving just 31 months in federal prison for his part in that bold and ultimately deadly fraud, Kidan has reinvented himself. Today, hes a self-described business leader and the CEO of the national staffing company Empire Workforce Solutions, a major Republican donor and acolyte and customer of Donald Trump.
Kidan, 60, is a member at Trumps pricey private club and Palm Beach residence, Mar-a-Lago, where in February 2023 he staged his fairytale wedding ceremony to Brazilian-born Cristiani De Fatima Pereira, 23 years his junior. About 250 guests, including the former president and his wife, Melania, were entertained by the famed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, video of the event shows ...
