Get on board with the Democratic Party. You want our records to find the donors from our party, and you want to use the name.. then get on board with the party...Simple as that..

(4,195 posts)We're not unreasonable. But right now the stakes are to high to be messing around. And I would not put it past the other side to be trying to plant Nixonian style disrupters to infiltrate our party and stir up chaos. They have the Putin playbook in their hands.

(386 posts)So you think that dems calling for new dem leadership to fight back against Trump are Nixon disrupters? I see these dems as wanting to save American democracy for future generations.

(4,195 posts)the other side will most certainly exploit it. So if we continue to have extremely low turnout elections we are vulnerable to having "entities" planted amongst our ranks that would try and agitate, elevate and/or increase the "volume" of very divisive, unpopular and in an ever increasing misinformed/disinformed electorate, full on deception in the descriptions of our policies. You've got to think like a repuke and be smart to avoid this. They're very good at this. Now they are being coached by a former head of the KGB, who were the best in modern history at this type of "warfare". And thats what we need to treat this as, a war. Because if we lose in November, not only will this country be over as we know it but the entire party will be destroyed. Any counter to this current regime will take decades to get established because the current established power will crush anything trying to upset it. We will be in an Orban style authoritarian regime for the at least the next 20 years or more. Its very naive to think this can't happen here. The darkness of authoritarianism has 1 foot OUT the door waiting to come in and close it IMO.

(386 posts)You think affordable healthcare, affordable child care, affordable hosing, affordable groceries, reproductive rights for women, living wages for working people, treating all Americans as equals, protecting the environment are unpopular? These are the issues most on voters minds this year Do you also not understand how terrible the polling is for the Democratic party right now because they're not seen as fighting back against Trump/GOP. It doesn't bother you that Trump and the GOP are anti-democracy Nazis, destroying American democracy in broad daylight while the current status quo dem leadership sits on the sidelines and lets them get away with it? The anti-democracy GOP has been destroying American democracy for the last 25 years. The dem grass roots understands this threat. So does the new generation of dem leaders. It's time for the status quo leadership to step aside so that the dem grass roots and the new dem leadership can save American democracy for future generations of Americans..

(15,866 posts)There AIN'T any! So, please, for the love of all that is ....
STOP with the strawman stuff. And recognizance that the wailing and gnashing of teeth, hand wringing - and near constant castigation of leadership - has nothing at all to do with 'affordable groceries'. WHERE, pray tell, are the Democrats that are against this? Because - once again - they are NOT! You have heard NOBODY in the party saying anything of the sort! Not one - not once! And you darned well know it! So just stop!

(386 posts)The current "status quo" go along to get along, get a few tidbits here and there, leadership finally needs to figure out that their timid strategy is failing miserably. They've been using this failed strategy for 25 years the result of which has culminated in Trump/GOP actively working in broad daylight no less, to turn our country into a Nazi dictatorship while the "status quo" leadership remains blissfully unaware of what's really happening. It's the "status quo" leadership that continues to bring slingshots to the fight while Trump/GOP are bringing AK-47s to the fight. The grassroots well understands what's happening and what the Trump/GOP threat to American democracy is and they want change now before it's too late. If the current "status quo" leadership is unwilling to meet this critical moment, then they need to step aside for leaders who understand this threat and who will rise to meet this most dangerous moment for American democracy. The situation our country is in is dire and the time to act to save it for future generations of Americans is now.

So I will spend no more time trying to dissuade you from your trite mantras ...
You are obviously in your comfort zone. (whether that has any bearing on winning elections or - ultimately - wielding any degree of political power - or not .. )
Peace - out.

Stop whining and make some calls for a candidate or write some postcards.

(13,568 posts)They won't work in every district but they will in democratic districts. Get solid, well educated and good communicators, it can never go back to status quo, the entire system needs and overhaul and if you don't your democracy will go down. Even if you elected democrats, if they are not willing to do the hard work to change, it will happen again, only with someone smarter and you will lose your democracy. The rest of the world knows this, the people of the US should, but don't seem to.

(37,759 posts)I would like a direct quote with citation because that is poppycock.
And a very unwise way for us to move forward. We should be ignoring labels, letting these primaries roll out, and getting firmly behind whoever wins in the primaries. That's how you get national candidates elected and push them up to leadership. We are not going to get the presidency by demanding everyone be the same label we've decided to call ourselves. Especially when those labels were created by republicans in a pejorative manner.
