the system where everyone get what they need.
So if you are only happy if you are rich, then I fail to see why wouldn't be able to be rich?
Of course it's not achievable in practice as it goes against human nature.

Sweden operates under what is known as the "Nordic Model". This system blends a competitive, capitalist market economy with a comprehensive social safety net.

5. Like most functional liberal democracies.

Making America a nation we can be proud of is all about building a government that protects our individual rights while providing the public infrastructure and services we choose to provide ourselves.

And a liberal democracy that collectively chooses to socialize certain segments does not make a nation "socialist."

It is the Republicans who are hellbent to destroy the fundamental principles of liberal democracy.

Call bullshit on the "leftist" labeling crap, because it is utter crap

What Democratic Socialists and Democrats are advocating is firmly grounded in the center of American politics.

It is the radical right who are the extremists.

... I suggested a simple formula that could complete the circle: Educate our populace to conduct themselves with the best interests of society in mind. And let government conduct itself with the best interests of the individual in mind. What's so bad about that?

20. I remember...

... Texas Republican, John Cornyn paraphrasing Will Rogers by saying that Bill Clinton never met an education program he didn't like. Like any loudmouthed Republican skidmark, he meant it as a pejorative.
Thomas Jefferson maintained that a healthy democracy required a well-informed populace. That presupposes a well-educated one.
Republicans hate the thought of a well-educated populace, because, for the most part, well-educated people are also well-informed, and therefore unlikely to vote for Republicans, who prefer a dull-witted and misinformed electorate, for the same reason Trump said that he loved the poorly educated. He purposely neglected to finish the sentence: because they're so easy to deceive and manipulate.

21. Then they should label themselves appropriately per their audience's understanding.

In response to your point:
"What Democratic Socialists and Democrats are advocating is firmly grounded in the center of American politics."

But, it occurs to me that I am making an incorrect assumption about who they see as their audience. Problem is, if they are trying to appeal to that group that will think "socialism = good!!" at the time of casting GE ballots in 2026 and 2028 ... I believe they are targeting too small a group. Why deliberately limit your audience this way?

17. Exactly!!!! All of the Nordics are new business generating powerhouses.

One driver is the social safety net for those who have an idea and want to make a go of it. That greatly reduces the risk if your idea goes sideways. People are incentivized to take risks who ordinarily wouldn't or couldn't in the US system. Thus, higher new business generation.

But it's not without problems. Sweden's taxes on capital gains are a bit more regressive than ours in some cases. But generally their rich pay their fair share in total taxation. Ironically, Sweden's billionaires per capita is 1.5 times larger than the US.

The Nordic countries are social democracies. They are capitalist countries with well regulated capitalism and a healthy social safety net - they are not socialists. Really.

you can see their disdain for people constantly in their policies and speeches and general attitude. They want to step on someone so they can feel superior.

The Scandinavian countries have rich people. I doubt they have much poverty.
