2. Six months ago I would have agreed completely

In the here and now though, I've seen too many instances of his eyes glazed over and without focus in an environment he should be anything but. It's my own biases of course, but each day he comes closer to acting, looking and sounding like grandad did in the two months after his diagnosis of dementia.

Academically, you're most likely right. On a visceral level though, I'm seriously wondering if he makes it through the midterms.

3. The truth is probably in the middle.

I don’t buy the deaths door bullshit, nor do I buy the he’s just an old guy and is fine bullshit. He’s a VERY FAT 80 year old man with verifiable terrible eating habits and a rich family history of dementia.

He could go tomorrow, or live another 5 years. I don’t think he makes it to his parents ages, though. His dad was a generally fit guy for his entire life. Donnie has been an unrepentant fat pig for decades.

I believe that now, for important events, he can be 'enhanced' and get through seeming better than he is usually. They just can't risk doing that all the time.
