It’s for the voters in Maine to decide. Any time I spend on it is a waste, as far as my personal life is concerned. I have other things to concern my life with besides what is likely a smear campaign in another state. You can get all worked up about it you want, but in the end it makes no difference whatsoever to the outcome of this Senste race.

Susan Collins was always going get the billionaires to step in with mountains of cash to influence the race. This latest ‘revelation’ is probably a direct result of Susan having unlimited funds to smear her opponent when she has nothing to run on herself.

Is a liar, etc i get why she stayed quiet.

There is a week to put someone else on the ballot. He needs to drop. California united behind Becerra, who was polling single digits. Maine can do it, too!

Mon Jul 6, 2026, 04:07 PM

Racicot previously described “reckless” and “unsettling” behavior by Platner to The New York Times, but says she didn’t go public with the specific assault claim because she didn’t want to be known as a rape victim.

Racicot said she later felt compelled to go public about her experience because the reaction to the Times story was dominated by controversy about another woman, Lyndsey Fifield, who alleged Platner mistreated her and faced attacks because of her ties to the Republican Party. (Contacted by POLITICO, Fifield stood by the allegations she made to the Times and declined to comment further.)

“My part of the story was just a read-over,” Racicot said in an interview. “And the story was Lyndsey, and the accusations of her being politically motivated.”

Racicot said she was torn over coming forward in part because she agrees with Platner politically.

“One of the reasons I didn’t come forward sooner was, the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics, but not supporting him as a person,” she said. “I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person.”

Well, there was lots of buzz about this and that and his tattoos etc.

I thought I read something about him and women, but it was vagueish....

Didn't something with his wife come up recently?

Mills was never going to win. Hell she couldn’t even raise money. And I’m not sure she offered voters something different than Collins anyway. Meanwhile, He was always going to be felled by something like this. In the end Collins will get another term. That’s the long and the short of it.

I went for 2 weeks last year. First visit. Other than Hawaii it’s probably my favorite state I’ve visited to date.

I had moved on and accepted Platner with a lot of reservations. It turned out that was not a good move for anyone. Regardless, I appreciate your willingness to challenge on issues like this. We have disagreed on other things but I’d be proud to share a fox hole with you any day. Your comments about not abandoning this country to fascists have resonated with me tonight.

For months, there has been bad stuff coming out about this creep. Nazi tattoos. Sexting with 6 women while he was married?

And when people on DU posted that "gosh, this isn't good and the DNC needs to vet people better and make sure we have better quality people in senate races" and "if he loses this thing, it will be his own darn fault"....

responses were....

BUT HE'S THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE! Just shut up!

Not at all surprised by this. Very sorry for the victim and will not be at all surprised if there are more victims. Hope the DNC can find someone to replace him with, but this may well cost us the race.

I've become far too cynical about politics to believe these sorts of stories during campaigns. Until Platner admits it's true, I see it as just another well-planned and calculated political attack. If Platner were on the ballot in Florida, I would vote for him.

So, a man has to admit rape to make it real?

I'm glad we didn't do that in CA or Steve Hilton would be our next Gov.

I don't believe, nor do I disbelieve, these sorts of sexual assault accusations, particularly when they are being made in the middle of a political campaign where so much is on the line, and when the accused says they are not true. We've been down this road before.
