DSA sets a new historical record!

DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) has set a new record!
They are now the largest Socialist Org. in American history, surpassing Eugene Debs' Socialist Party of America.
This is only counting due paying members.

2. DSA isn't a party though

I think of them more along the lines of say a caucus environment. Perhaps describing them that way is a path forward. It's a thought I guess.

5. Could the same argument be made against entities like the Progressive Caucus or the Hispanic Caucus?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on that. Thanks 😀

7. So far I see them focused on defeating Democrats

and the is quite an amount of rhetoric against the Democratic Party. Most caucuses do not advocate the elimination of the party they are a part of.
OTH the DSA does not claim to be part of the Democratic Party.

10. Yes they are right now. It's primary season

That will end when primary season is over and we are closer to midterm elections.
I've not seen DSA come out and say that they want our party "eliminated". I've seen them say that they want it stronger, much stronger, and much more on the left.

Fair point on the last. 👍

3. DSA is not officially affiliated with the Democratic party

It's bad enough that the right is using the Communist boogieman when referring to the Democratic party.
This is more fuel for Trump's minions.

6. Stop worrying about wtf Republicans think
Mon Jul 6, 2026, 04:42 PM
Monday

As I said a few days ago, we need to stop giving any care at all WTF Republicans think.
Times have changed drastically and it's important that we adjust and fight with that in mind. Republicans will NOT work with Democrats and we should stop caring about what and who they call "Democratic Commie Socialist!" They've been yelling that catchphrase for 100 years. It has not worked and it never will work especially in an age when the majority of young(er) voters from millennial to Gen Z, the majority of the electorate now, view Socialism more favorable than Capitalism.

And we need to lean heavily into it. You do that by framing the conversation with things like "Oh I'm sorry that you think it's better that rich wealthy elites and billionaires own corporations and businesses instead of workers." That's how you do it! No more chasing Republican voters when you have a gigantic contingency on the left who doesn't requite a lot of chasing and will help crush the GOP and end fascism for good.

Remember, they tried playing the "Marxist Commie" card heavily against Obama. It backfired hard.

11. It's not what Republicans think,; for goodness sake

It's what Republicans will twist into lies to use against Democrats - and these lies are believed by a largely uninformed electorate.

12. I see that as the same thing lol

And the people believing that shit at this stage in the game would NEVER vote for a Democrat to begin with.
Trump and the GOP doing this is nothing but an act of sheer desperation. They're cooked and they know it but that's what happens when you've been doing a whole entire "Boy Who Cried Wolf" for a century.

14. Bragging about being the largest socialist group in America...
Mon Jul 6, 2026, 06:24 PM
Monday

...is like bragging that you are the tallest building in Topeka. It is technically true, but it has absolutely no impact on the skyline that actually matters.

As we all know, they are not actually a political party, and given their track record of winning actual races, "large" is a funny way to describe a group whose entire national caucus could comfortably share an Uber XL.

Frankly, that is like bragging you are the "most popular band" at a mime convention. You are dominating a category that the rest of the country does not even realize is competing.

In the end, being the largest socialist organization in the US just means they have the highest concentration of committees dedicated to arguing over the font size on their own meeting minutes.

Whoop-de-fucking-doo! 🎉🥳🤣

15. Well we sure see things differently

I see it as a good thing that DSA is growing. I think it's beautiful that DSA has worked hard to organize and get young people so involved. That means more votes for our party and that's a really great thing! 😀👍
