In 1980 I was patrolling the border between East and West Germany. When I returned to the barracks I turned on the American/Soviet Hockey game on the Armed Forces Network using my little transistor radio. When the Americans won, I cheered loud enough to get cursed at by my barracks mates.
Tonight, because of Pedo Don's interference, I couldn't care less who wins between the U.S. and Belgium.
I know. Not the team's fault. Pedo Don ruins everything.

(105,268 posts)And this is, astrologically, the worst month of all, for all of us. The ugliest shit is likely to come about in the next few weeks so keep your head down and dodge the bullets as you can!

(10 posts)..it's all about him. But as usual, he (and the outrage-stoked media) are full of crap.
The US Soccer Federation appealed the decision through regular channels. An 'independent' panel reviewed the appeal for FIFA and -- although they had to invoke a rarely-used rule -- overturned the red card suspension,. I think they invoked a rarely-used rule because the foul was pretty clearly NOT a red-card offense and the suspension was not justified.
Don't let media hype (or that vile 'man') prevent you from enjoying an historic match!

Me and my mate were screaming out of the windows.

(10,058 posts)The only time have ever served on a jury was in the Trinity County Court in Weaverville circa 83 or 84. A customer of the Wildwood Inn ran off the road into a tree. By the time law enforcement and an ambulance arrived, the customer being prosecuted for drunk drinking was busy getting wasted at the Wildwood. He claimed he only drank to sooth the pain after the accident. His claim of sobriety before hitting the tree was supported by his Wildwood Inn buddies. The jury finding was not guilty based upon the eyewitness testimonies and failure to show and inconsistency in documenting by LE. Pretty sure he was wasted that day in court too.
Not much in Wildwood except the Wildwood Inn and the USFS Ranger Station in Harrison Gulch.
