(99,181 posts)Not my Senator Warren yet either. I love my Senator, but I was disappointed with her endorsement.
Candidates should be vetted before such endorsements are made, especially a newcomer with no political history.

(73,435 posts)but we also need viable candidates.

(14,854 posts)A flood of Democratic senators joined Schumer and Gillibrand in condemning Platner. Some of his biggest backers Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) called on him to exit the race, as did Sens. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). Another staunch supporter and potential 2028 presidential hopeful, Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego, withdrew his endorsement. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), who had expressed support for Platner last month, said Monday he cannot support his candidacy.

(135,695 posts)it out, and were chastised, shut down, even had posts removed. Colour me soooo NOT surprised.
sheshe2
(99,181 posts)You are correct, some of us tried to warn people and were shut down and removed multiple times.

(1,296 posts)And was told if I didn't live in Maine I had no say. So I backed out of the conversation knowing this day would come.
Too many women had come forward too many stories of alcohol abuse.
Plus the guy gave me the creeps

(1,296 posts)Having family members who were assaulted and myself regarding domestic abuse, it was very upsetting.
a shameful chapter, indeed

(105,197 posts)I'll never forgive that guy, ever, along with those who breathlessly back him and chastised anyone who had misgivings about him.
I didn't think he'd be able to beat collins and got in big trouble here, on DU, for saying so and why I thought that.
mcar
(46,689 posts)to support him anyway. Because "he's for Medicare for All!!11"
How any times do we have to play this game before some figure it out?

(46,689 posts)We're still being told to STFU because we're not in Maine. I've seen dozens of OP over the years here rightfully complaining about my despicable governor DeathSentence. And my despicable senator Voldemort. I don't recall anyone ever saying people didn't have a right to voice an opinion because they're not in Florida.
Do you?
GPV
(73,435 posts)not in their area, people are entitled to their opinions. But I think that sending money or making ads for candidates is putting a thumb on the scale.
Besides, lecturing each other's is what DUers love to do most. You should have seen the original thread I posted back in '22 about how I as a Green felt that we on the left should be working together. Talk about getting tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.

(27,794 posts)are being validated. I take no pleasure in that because I really want Collins gone, but the character of our nominees is a crucial factor which we cannot ignore if we are to have credibility.

(46,689 posts)This has got to stop. We're now in danger of not taking over the senate bc of yet another great white progressive hope and his, shall we say, foibles.
People on the left hated HRC because she got paid to give speeches. That was disqualifying to them. But a guy with obvious, shall we say, issues? He's A OK.
