When a politician implores us that we must run the country like a business, this is what the two-faced alien creature means. It means it intends to instigate a slow succession of unstoppable, not containable, not accountable, bullying, pig-headed, increasingly incoherent tyrants, their offspring, and their cronies, stealing from everyone, everywhere, all of the time.

A business can fire people, for all kinds of reasons, and then they go away and stop being your problem.
A country can't do that. They have tried, demonizing the poor, the disabled, the nonwhite, the Other, but they don't go away, they are still your problem to deal with.
"Like a business" is shorthand for shitting on those who can least afford to be shat on.

(5,343 posts)American workers see maybe 5% of the value of their labor, in the form of wages. The rest of that wealth goes to people who are basically parasites.
THAT is redistributing wealth.
