Father Charles Scherer and his son, Nathan, were visiting Chattanooga from Florida for the holiday. When they boarded the trolley, Nathan said the disturbing comments began.
Nathan said the ride up the mountain was pretty silent, with most passengers expressing discomfort with the remarks. He said he thought about the incident the entire way up the mountain.
I thought I better start recording on the way down, in case something is said, just because I know how it made us feel... I just didn't want people to have to feel this way coming to our country, or even just people who were American citizens.
"Happy Independence to the rest of you. Welcome to the greatest country on the face of the planet, and if you disagree, you can leave," the conductor says in the video. "To the very, very few Americans in here, Happy Independence Day."

(2,010 posts)Now this sorry ass is an UNEMPLOYED miserable loser weirdo. Make no mistake, that was a GOOD job he had and his Trumpy azz just couldn't resist. He was actually seething with anger and pettiness that 'foreigners' were on his train and couldn't let it go. Well, now he got his just desserts and got shit canned. Joke's on you Trumpster.
OTOH, read this entire article and you'll see that CARTA left the door open to re-hire the POS. Nope, not kidding:

Years ago, my wife and I went to a fair in Orange County California. We went on a haunted house ride. There were two skinny, scruffy guys putting people into the cars and running the board. My wife and I are a mixed race couple, and we got into a car. As our car was moving into the ride, I heard the guy running the board say to the guy putting people into the cars, "Patience, brother. Remember, we have to be patient," (he had a southern accent). I looked behind me and saw the other guy loading a black couple into a car.
Creepy.

(3,133 posts)he seems the type to jump out and let the car find its own way down the hill. Kudos to the father and son who reported him... in this day and age going public as they did brings the real possibility of something happening to them or their family.
There's a bunch of 'patriots' out there defending him, he started a GoFundMe and has raised $13,000 so far.
Totally disgusting.

(3,133 posts)that pop up on the right side of my screen whilst searching on google. I clicked the link, read an article somewhere about it, then clicked another link regarding the gofundme. Somehow without realizing it I ended up on Daily Mail (I know). So I decided to read some of the comments - I'd say at least 90% of them were defending his action, even though most of them hadn't read the 'fine print' where he was being a complete jerk, hiding his contempt for certain others behind July 4th. Even those who had didn't believe he should have been fired.
The 10% or so who agreed with his being let go did so from the standpoint that he was an employee of a business, and as such you don't pizz off the customers. That if it were their business they would have done the same. They DID, however, support what he said, just that it should have been said outside of work. I noticed as well that this group was FAR better prepared to argue their point, and many of them claimed to be long-time members.
I realize it's a far-right site with anonymous posters but if representative of MAGAs in general, we've a very tough road ahead. Very eye opening.
