Platner toast; If he's done we have to push him out STAT and get busy.

It appears they're trying to, but the sooner we can stop seeing him in the news or talking about him the better.

Just because you don't live in the state doesn't mean it won't have any effect.

I think he wants to go full Fetterman, staying on the ticket while attacking the “establishment” and destroying the Democrats chances of winning the Senate.

If he drops out he immediately becomes a complete nobody.

If he stays in then he remains relevant and and some non-zero number of voters will support him as the only path to defeating Susan Collins.

Platner needs to drop out and the accusation of his victim needs to be investigated by law enforcement in Maine.

In Maine, rape (legally prosecuted as Gross Sexual Assault) generally has no criminal statute of limitations if the victim was under 18 at the time of the offense. For adult victims (18 or older), the state typically allows prosecutors 20 years to commence prosecution for felony-level sex crimes.

a very much anti Biden smear campaign, conducted by Republicans, because they know Platner is popular in Maine, then what?
So far all we know is what the woman said in the interview with Psaki, and she said it was, paraphrased, two people who had been in a relationship for a while, getting a little too drunk, and he apologized. And she said is was consensual..
And what we do know is that it's a half truth rumor.

He was apparently drunk, but that's not an excuse for rape. There's nothing in the reporting about her being drunk (and even if she is, that means she can't consent). If she consented, why did she immediately break up with him and tell him to never see her again?

"That night in late 2021, she said she had exchanged text messages with him and told him not to come over, saying she wasn’t in the mood for company. Later that evening, she said she realized when she heard a sound on the stairs that he had let himself into her house, which was unlocked.

Platner came up the stairs, Racicot said, to where she was on a couch. He got on top of her and kept grabbing her, she said, while she repeatedly told him to stop and that she wasn’t interested. Racicot said she smelled alcohol on his breath and believed he was “almost blackout drunk” because Platner ignored her protests and continued to grab her after knocking over an antique sewing kit, spilling small needles everywhere."

"Jenny Racicot, the woman who accused scandal-plagued Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner of sexually assaulting her when they dated several years ago, told CNN anchor Jake Tapper that she “absolutely” considers what happened to be rape."

He stays in he’s going to lose. And whoever his replacement is, their prospects are grim given that there’s already a huge circular firing squad among Maine Dems as to who will replace dipshit Platner. It’s FUBAR and not worth the bandwidth. Resources would probably no, would definitely, be better used elsewhere.

And I would expect t his replacement will be constantly asked about Platner. The other thing I forgot to mention are his supporters who actually live in Maine. I know contempt for these people is very trendy right now on the forum but I suspect a lot of them will become quickly disengaged after he’s out.
