So, the Leaning Tower of NYC is now better once a few I-beams were welded in...uh huh...?

I wouldn't be anywhere near that place. Neighboring buildings are put in a very difficult position...I'm not sure what's next...

Requiring evacuations while building stabilized. Big story yesterday.

They were adding 5 stories on top of existing floors

No matter the reassurances the developers want people to swallow.

This was a former pharmaceutical headquarters high rise that was sold and being converted into luxury apartments. The new owners were adding on an additional floors and the support beams for the new floors began to buckle causing bricks to fall to the ground. It posed a potential for total collapse and would have affected other buildings in the immediate area.

I wonder if New York state or the city has laws requiring the builders to notify potential buyers of the apartments of the problem. Personally, knowing about the problem would discourage me from buying an apartment in the building even if the city and state says it's safe.

Ultimately it won’t matter as long as the project gets finished. The inspections will be even stricter now and the NYC rental market is tough so I expect this will be 100% leased especially in this location.
