'That's Your Job, Not Musk's Job!' Red State Republican Faces Down Angry Constituents Demanding Proof of Fraud

Wyoming Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) faced down another hostile crowd of constituents on Thursday who were incensed at Elon Musk’s DOGE cutting through the federal government. At a town hall in Wheatland, Wyoming, Hageman pointed to spending cuts when she was pressed to defend her work in Congress. “And also DOGE will be going through their budget. And what we did with that money is we specified how it is to be spent. That’s why we’re talking about raises specifically for the enlisted men and women as an example,” Hageman told the restless crowd.

“But that’s your job, not Musk’s job!” someone shouted back. “That’s what we did. That’s what we did. That’s what we did. So next question right over here,” Hageman replied speaking over the crowd.

“I have a specific question here, and just to give you a little reference, I am a retired military officer,” began an unidentified questioner, who told the crowd, “Don’t clap for me.” “At 18, I rose my hand to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And at that time, well, I still am. I am still a Republican. I am, bless his heart, a Simpson Republican that believes in working together across the aisle. And my question, having looked at Musk’s DOGE, whatever the word, website, you are a lawyer. Where is this fraud? Who? What company? What company? What organization? What personnel? Are we going after?” asked the voter.

“I’ll just start reading some of it. I’ll just start reading it right now if you’d like me to. I’ll just focus on USAID spending right here,” replied Hageman. “I didn’t say spending, I said actual fraud,” hit back the questioner. “This is what it is. This is the spending associated with it,” Hageman insisted. “This is what it is. This is the spending associated with the fraud. This is the fraud. Spending is the fraud,” Hageman added to boos. “No, no, no!” replied the questions. “Spending you don’t like,” yelled another audience member.

house/senate members? Perhaps it's time to switch parties, go Democratic at least for now, and send a clear signal to repubs who are so clearly ignoring their voters who put them there.

Why didn’t Congress deal with this problem in the past, when they authorized the budget?
