Social Security Chief's 'Turn It Off' Comment Is Latest Insane Turn For Beleaguered Agency
Source: HuffPost
WASHINGTON The temporary director of the Social Security Administration suggested agency operations would be so impaired by a court banishing Elon Musks DOGE team from sensitive databases that he would just turn out the lights.
A federal judge on Thursday ordered Social Security to revoke the so-called Department of Government Efficiencys access to various databases containing Americans personal information, and for DOGE employees or affiliates to delete any data theyve taken and remove any software theyve installed.
In an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday evening, Leland Dudek, the acting commissioner of Social Security, said his own staff would count as DOGE affiliates and seemingly joked about shutting down the entire agency.

On Friday, Dudek indicated he was actually talking to the Justice Department about shutting down Social Security ― and potentially halting benefits for 70 million people ― if the court didnt clarify its order.

(5,420 posts)He's saying that his "own" people would qualify as DOGE employees (I don't think so... who is their supervisor, musk or dudek?) and he'd just send everybody home and turn out the lights behind them. No one to work, no payments sent out, nothing gets done.
This isn't just a joke. This is terrorism against the most vulnerable in our society. Somebody please stop these men!

(190,240 posts)He had a meeting with employees where he was supposed to speak for 16 minutes and he went an hour. He basically was ranting but he did say thing about the importance of the program and how he wanted to keep it alive. Since then hes just said that he will do whatever Trump says and, as stated below, that if Trump says DOGEBAGS get access they get access.
He was pulled completely out of the blue. Hed been there for more than a decade but whatever job he was doing made him invisible. Almost no one knew of him or what he did. I dont think he was a rabid MAGA online in fact I think I read that he had some anti Trump things to say. I could be wrong about that.
Totally random faceless office worker put in charge of Social Security.

From Common Dream, a list of the data they supposedly wanted access to or already have? It's exhaustive personal info!!

In her 137-page opinion, Hollander explained that "to facilitate the expedition, SSA provided members of the SSA DOGE team with unbridled access to the personal and private data of millions of Americans, including but not limited to Social Security numbers, medical records, mental health records, hospitalization records, drivers' license numbers, bank and credit card information, tax information, income history, work history, birth and marriage certificates, and home and work addresses."
It sounds like they already have access to this info. ???

(24,289 posts)"The IRS has it, your bank has it, your credit card company has it. They have your driver's license", etc etc. So I asked one lady "If everyone already has your ss#, you wouldn't mind if I ask you for yours? Maybe you can post it here." Dumbasses.

(5,420 posts)Data hounds don't go after what they don't need... it wastes their time from getting what they want. My question is what do they want with all this data? Are they planning on emptying out every seniors' bank account via direct withdrawal or by scam email? Is there a foreign country that wants all that info for nefarious reasons and they've already made plans to sell the data? What of the data they've already hoovered from all the other agencies? Is that gone to Russia/China/Iran/Hungary/?? Money is always the only reason I can think of. Are there any other nefarious reasons they would want the info?
They already have reams of data on all of us. What don't they have that they want so badly they'd move to extortion to get it? And why aren't they being shut down and arrested for extorting the United States of America?

(20,306 posts)Painful, absolutely, but it seems it's going to take a whole hell of a lot of pain to excise the stupid from the brains of a ton of Americans. I figure, the sooner we get there, the sooner this shit will finally end.

(497 posts)My god it such an impossible task to save social security the sky is falling. Just raise the income cap on the deduction and the problem goes away on seconds. How about auditing the DoD and immediately save 200 billion a year. Increase the corporate tax by 10% on company's that got the 40% cut in 2017 and have taxable income growth of less than 20% since then. The American people are nothing but gullible serfs to the GOP

Why they want to own a country with millions of suddently starving people for money they don't know how to spend, I don't know.
I think we don't have the imagination to imagine the cruelty they will stoop to.
Will someone arrest them please?
