Trump says 5 more law firms will provide $600 million total in free legal work for causes he supports

President Donald Trump on Friday said five more law firms have struck agreements with his administration that involve them committing to at least $600 million total in pro bono work for causes the president supports. The new deals follow similar moves by numerous other law firms, which came as Trump threatens to sign punitive executive orders targeting legal offices for their past or current association with his perceived enemies.

Trump on Truth Social on Friday said that four firms — Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Allen Overy Shearman Sterling US LLP, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, and Latham & Watkins LLP — have each committed to at least $125 million in free legal work, for a total of $500 million.

In a separate post, Trump announced a similar deal with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, LLP for at least $100 million. The pro bono services will be directed toward causes that both Trump and the firms support, include assisting veterans, combating antisemitism and ensuring “fairness in our Justice System,” according to the posts.

All five firms also agreed not to “engage in illegal DEI discrimination and preferences” and commit to “Merit-Based Hiring.” They additionally affirm not to deny representation to clients “because of the personal political views of individual lawyers.”

There are plenty of other competent, well-thought-of law offices out there---absolutely no point in using any of these trump-friendly outfits for future legal services you may require. Make sure you're sending your money to entities that deserve it.

If the lawyers wanted to keep getting government work, I could see that they could offer to lower their rates to the government. That would be a legal transaction. But taking the full rate, and donating to other parties chosen by the Rapist, is surely a simple bribe to get the business.

Since the corrupt government clearly isn't going to arrest itself or its collaborators, it needs to be challenged in court. Is anyone doing that?

Sure, they're saying they blackmail of themselves by Trump shouldn't be allowed; but I think the lawyers who are collaborating with him are bribing him, at the expense of the USA (who will be paying them, which they then pass on, as gifts in kind, to Trump's favourites).

nor how the firms themselves are handling whoever is doing "the negotiations". Since this has mainly started happening in the past couple weeks, I expect there may be some strategies being considered to be deployed to do what you are suggesting - and notably beginning with some who have actually resigned from those firms in protest.
