'We're citizens!': Oklahoma City family traumatized after ICE raids home, but they weren't suspects
Source: KFOR News, Oklahoma
A woman says her familys fresh start in Oklahoma turned into a nightmare after federal immigration agents raided their home, taking their phones, laptops, and life savings even though they were not the suspects the agents were looking for.
The agents had a search warrant for the home, but the suspects listed on the warrant do not live in the house.
The woman who actually lives in the house had just moved to Oklahoma City from Maryland with her family about two weeks earlier.
But any comfort they had disappeared Thursday morning when about 20 men, armed with guns, busted through the door.
I keep asking them, who are you? What are you doing here? Whats happening, she said. And they said, we have a warrant for the house, a search warrant.
She said they ordered her and her daughters outside into the rain before they could even put on clothes.

The FBI is admitting they "assisted" DHS, but nobody knows anything. I find it hard to believe anyone will be held to account or that this isn't soon to be a common occurrence.

(88 posts)... is even worse than the headline. Leaving them without any way to contact anyone and no money... and no recourse. That must feel terribly dehumanizing and helpless. I can't imagine.

(4,365 posts)just in case stupidity strikes. You would think there would a lead agent on site that has authority to look at IDs and such and say "Whoops, sorry...wrong house fellas, let's get out of here".

(34,799 posts)A black local elected Democratic, Democratic Committee Member, daughter of one of America's first green berets, member of the D.A.R. - gets head blown off.
It won't look good - and would probably trigger the formation of even more Black gun clubs.
There are now 5 in my county that didn't exist a year ago.

(34,799 posts)That local elected Democratics are the firewall for the people we represent.
Now is not the time to be a feckless coward. It is much different to people when it is your neighbor who is experiencing these things.
I also believe that since the entire state of New Jersey is within the 100 mile port coverage of DHS -
We are in the Fed Gov's crosshairs.
It's only a matter of time before they try to arrest my State AG. You watch what Habbadabbadoo is going to try and pull. She's here for one reason and one reason only - to try and break NJ.
Trump can come kill us all (Elected NJ Dems) if he thinks it's worth it. I triple, double dog dare him.

(57,850 posts)I hear it's a rather violent place, which means I'd probably have firearms with armor-piercing ammunition (if I could get it) in the house. I don't keep them where I live now, but I know how to use them. If a bunch of armed thugs burst into my home with no valid documents or verifiable ID, I'd keep firing until I was out of ammo. I'd assume they were the "finance division" of some visiting crime cartel, especially in the face of no solid evidence to the contrary. It would not end well.
There have been instances where "law enforcement" has burst into the wrong address, the occupants defended themselves, not knowing who their assailants were, and were exonerated, even though at least one of the invaders died in the defenders' fire.

(4,937 posts)They simply declare it proceeds from illegal activity and seize it. You then have to hire a lawyer and sue to get it back.
