The result is a diplomatic split where Kellogg hammers out cease-fire terms with Ukraine while Witkoff floats concessions like recognizing Crimea as Russian — a nonstarter for Kyiv.

“He is not negotiating anything,” former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said via X on Saturday. “Witkoff acts as a mailman for Putin.” Even more damning, the report points out how Russian media has picked up on Witkoff’s apparent echoing of Russian government positions. In a March interview with MAGA personality Tucker Carlson, he parroted Kremlin talking points and bungled the names of Ukraine’s occupied territories, calling them “so-called four regions” and referring to referendums conducted under armed Russian guards as legitimate.

They begged for planes for months after Russia’s invasion, and Poland was ready to send their old Russian planes but Washington said no. Only after a couple years of war did Ukraine get more sophisticated ranks and weaponry. Now Ukraine is in a terrible position having to deal with Trump.

I recall Nixon sending Kissinger to China to engage in discussions, despite the fact he was not Secretary of State. I think it was not long thereafter that Nixon announced he would be visiting China.

The current situation is a disgrace. It was a means for Putin for have his talking points aired on Hannity's show when Witkoff was interviewed there.
