New Oklahoma curriculum includes pro-Trump conspiracy theories
Source: Popular Information (Independent accountability journalism.)
Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, thousands of high school students in Oklahoma will be required to learn about President Trump's debunked claims that the 2020 election was tainted by fraud. The lesson will not be part of a course on conspiracy theories, but an official component of the new social studies curriculum created by Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters (R).

The new curriculum includes a section that requires students to "analyze contemporary turning points of 21st-century American society." That requirement includes the following:
Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of bellwether county trends.

In other words:
"We're tired of students learning about accurate liberal information, so we're hijacking the system to teach our students about conservative propaganda & conspiracy theories."

Rep. Ronny Johns, a former educator and member of the House Common Education Committee, said the new standards pose challenges for teachers. In addition to the standard about election discrepancies, he also took issue with a revision that definitively claims to know the source of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I think the standards got too specific concerning COVID-19 and the election of 2020, said Johns (R-Ada). Teachers have to remain neutral while teaching and presenting lessons that go along with the standards. When dealing in this case with these two things, youre opening up an opportunity for teachers to insert their biases one way or another. The same thing can be said concerning the standards connected with Bible stories and scriptures. Ive heard from numerous pastors, ministers, deacons, elders, parents and teachers that are very concerned on how those things will be presented and taught.

On Feb. 27, the board approved the following social studies standards with significant changes to rule USH.9.3:
- Explain the effects of the Trump tax cuts, child tax credit, border enforcement efforts including Title 42 and Remain in Mexico policy, consumer and business confidence, interest rates, and inflation rates prior to the COVID-19 pandemic;
- Describe the effects of the replacement of NAFTA with USMCA, expanded European contributions to NATO spending, the signing of the Abraham Accords, and the successful avoidance of new wars;
- Identify the source of the COVID-19 pandemic from a Chinese lab and the economic and social effects of state and local lockdowns;
- Identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of bellwether county trends; and
- Analyze the impact of appointments to the U.S. judicial system and the Supreme Court (e.g., Dobbs v. Jackson Womens Health Organization and the overturning of Roe v. Wade).

See the article for all the changes that were made and how these changes were surreptitiously accomplished.
Further reporting (see below) indicates that it seems that the new standards have now been approved by the Oklahoma Legislature (by default) as no resolution passed to reject them.

But after Walters spoke with GOP leaders Monday in a closed-door caucus meeting, the deadline to hear the resolution came and went Tuesday without a floor hearing.
House Democratic Leader and gubernatorial candidate Cyndi Munson (D-Oklahoma City) said in a statement she was "disappointed in the lack of action."
"Because no action has been taken by Republican legislative leaders, the voices of Oklahomans across the state and party lines who have been urging us to disapprove these problematic, and costly, social studies standards have gone unheard," Munson said. "... It is clear that the political pressure put forth by the State Superintendent on House and Senate leaders matters more than the needs and desires of Oklahoma educators, parents and students."
The standards now take effect as written.

So, it seems Oklahoma was determined to "supplement" and has "supplemented" (i.e., corrupt/corrupted, respectively) their social studies curriculum and its factual history with fictions regarding Trump, Covid, religion, etc.
Oklahoma's school system should go for broke and adopt the "flat Earth theory", too. That way, Oklahomans can be proud that they are potentially "educating" their children to become not merely idiots, but instead exemplary idiots.
