Trump uses National Day of Prayer to insult Biden, spread election lies and claim he was sent by god

Minutes into his speech, Trump mentioned his faith advisers work in the White House. No other president allowed that. They said, 'separation between church and state.' I said, Alright, let's forget about that for one time.

This is going to be really four years of celebration, so get ready, the president said, referring to the Olympics, World Cup and 250th anniversary. Were going to bring God to those celebrations. Were not going to forget about God, he told the crowd.

The president also discussed what he refers to as the big, beautiful bill a massive spending measure. He noted the bills promised tax cuts before acknowledging that some may lose their faith if hit with major tax hikes: "This is a religious ceremony but that's part of the religion, because if your taxes go up 68 percent you might give up your religion. You might have no choice. You'll be working too hard." The crowd broke into laughter.

The president also that God put him in the White House:I think God answered other prayers because hes put in an administration thats going to make you proud again, going to make you believe and believe more again.

I and mine are the only members of our collective families to have escaped the Abrahamic blood cult of "Christ" in which we were reared.
Grateful every day.
Because "faith" requires the suspension of critical thinking I and mine reject "faith".
We embrace reason because it requires the embrace of critical thinking.
Hence...
Reason is our "god".
Doubt is our "savior".
When nothing else not pain, not love, doubt lifted me...
We've been "beat to hell" then lifted out... odd to say both times by doubt!
Happy Thursday y'all ...

(185 posts)and Trump goes down, they are all going down with him: the Republicans, the Conservatives and the Right Wing Christians. All the liars, users, enablers, conspirators, fools and hypocrites will be exposed.
They will deserve no mercy from any of us.

(1,769 posts)The media and Congressional Dems should have pressed him on why he wouldn't touch the bible to be sworn in. They missed a good opportunity to force him to answer for that. It would have played big in red states. Too late now.

(13,137 posts)In his mind, if you touch the Bible, you have to do what you're saying you would do. If you don't put your hand on it you haven't taken the oath, so there are no rules.
It's the same reason he doesn't use email, he rips up translator's notes, and he flushes down the toilet any document he's shown. If it doesn't exist on paper it never happened. For some reason the same logic doesn't apply to videotape, although I've never seen a reporter play to him in person a video of him showing just the opposite of what he just said, like, "I never said 'Lock her up.'" Roll that beautiful bean footage.
Jimmy Kimmel once had a Repuke congressman say he'd never vote to eliminate the ACA. After every member of the GOP did just that, he had the congressman back on, showed him the video, and asked point blank, "Why did you lie?"

(15,789 posts)I think you are walking on dangerous turf when you mock God in the way that Trump is doing in this speech. God knows what's in Trump's heart and Trump does not fool God.
Trump may think of himself as being indestructible, but I assure you, he is still just a man.
I realize that many of Trump's followers are the zealous, crazy religious that truly believe he was sent by God. I don't believe that myself, of course, and there are many of us who believe that don't follow the crazy, evangelical path. We believe in compassion, empathy and peace. We are like Joe Biden. We also believe that anyone and everyone is capable of deciding for themselves, and should be free to follow their own path to God or away from God. Their choice.
But in my opinion, Trump would do well for himself if he left God out of his railings!!!

In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus warns against false prophets who appear harmless but are deceitful at their core. He emphasizes that genuine prophets and followers of Christ will produce good deeds and outcomes, much like a healthy tree produces good fruit. Conversely, despite their outward appearances, false prophets will ultimately reveal their true nature through harmful or deceitful actions. The metaphor is simple yet profound: just as good trees produce good fruit and bad trees produce bad fruit, the true character of individuals is evident in their actions.
