WASHINGTON Sen. Amy Klobuchar said that authorities believe Vance Boelter, the 57-year-old suspect in a pair of "politically motivated" shootings, is still in the Midwest, noting that "he may be" in Minnesota and that authorities have put out an alert in South Dakota. "We believe he's somewhere in the vicinity and that they are going to find him," Klobuchar, D-Minn., said during an interview on NBC News' "Meet the Press." "But right now, everyone is on edge here because we know that this man will kill at a second."
A Democratic Minnesota lawmaker and her husband were killed early Saturday in what Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., said appears to be "a politically motivated assassination." State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed, and state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were severely injured, Walz said. Authorities have identified the shooting suspect as 57-year-old Vance Boelter of Minnesota. Klobuchar emphasized that if people see Boelter, they "should not approach him, that they should immediately call the tip lines and report."
Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said on Saturday that they found a "manifesto" in Boelter's vehicle with names of other officials. An official who saw the list on the suspects manifesto previously told NBC News that it targeted prominent people in Minnesota who advocated for reproductive rights. After the shootings, Klobuchar said that she has received extra security without her request.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a Saturday statement that he asked the Capitol Police to "immediately increase security" for Klobuchar and Sen. Tina Smith, D-Minn. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., also put out a statement on Saturday saying that he asked the "the House Sergeant at Arms and United States Capitol Police to ensure the safety of our Minnesota delegation and Members of Congress across the country."

Since he allegedly texted something along the lines of "I may be dead soon" then chances are they find him somewhere dead.

(1,281 posts)deal of that this guy was appointed by Gov Walz, but was he a dem? Or at the time was he just a very competent repub who was qualified for the position he was appointed to? And when did he become radicalized? Did I miss this info in the coverage he is getting?

The current state legislature is almost evenly split with DFL (D)s holding only a single vote majority in each chamber.

Inside his car cops found a hit list of prominent abortion rights campaigners, many of them Democratic lawmakers.
I know the Daily Mail tabloid isn't the greatest source, but I've seen this elsewhere ...

Neither is as strong as the Daily Mail wording "avid Trump supporter", but will do for something to use in response to the Walz appointee thing.

There is a position for everyone, and the Walz-Flanagan Administration encourages applications from all Minnesotans with a desire to serve their state. Like many states, but even more so here, Minnesota is home to hundreds of nonpartisan and bipartisan boards and commissions, which are composed of thousands of people who typically win the appointment by simply volunteering. There are currently 342 open positions on Minnesota boards and commissions. Boelter was appointed to the Workforce Development Council by Walzs predecessor Gov. Mark Dayton and reappointed by Walz.
It was the equivalent of calling a Sunday school volunteer an appointee of the bishop.
No matter, the Murdoch media machine, specifically the New York Post, had their headline: Former appointee of Tim Walz sought .
Cernovich had his greasy foil hot dog wrapper and began constructing a hat:
The Vice President candidate for the Democrat party is directly connected to a domestic terrorist, that is confirmed, the only question is whether Tim Walz himself ordered the political hit against a rival who voted against Walzs plan to give free healthcare to illegals.
Walz had no such plan. He had signed an agreement to end eligibility for undocumented adults.
My emphasis
Much more about the ending of undocumented immigrants' eligibility for MinnesotaCare (Minnesota's version of Medicaid) is in the beginning of the article.

(103,902 posts)It was cannily written to make him look like he'd held important positions with multinational companies, where in fact that meant "managed a 7 Eleven". Since he had set up a security guard firm, he'd try and make it look like he had huge relevant experience, but might well have not.
See:
NPR found little evidence to support Boelter's account. He appears to have worked most of his career in the food service industry and one long-time friend described parts of Boelter's narrative about his life as "fantasy."
...
NPR found no record of the firm having clients or providing any services. A call to the company's phone number connected to what appears to be a private phone line, not a business. The address listed in incorporation papers appeared to be that of a law firm specializing in divorce litigation.
Boelter himself appears to have no history working in law enforcement, the military or private security.

(9,867 posts)Cops were there for a wellness check so they didnt expect a murder. Supposedly - murderer shot at police, ran to house and out back door according to police chief interview. He left his SUV in the driveway.
Many in the community were angry at her for voting with Republicans to take away MinnesotaCare, a low income health plan for undocumented immigrants. She was on tv earlier crying saying she did not expect such anger. (Video of her crying is online) -
The killer had on a rubber full face Halloween mask of an older man and was dressed like a policeman wearing a badge. He had lights on his SUV to look like a police car.
For someone with jobs like security and manager of 7/11 store, he sure had a nice expensive house. Could also have been a hit man for all we know. Anyway- from his online videos he looks like a psychopath or a scammer.
