The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Vance Boelter, the suspect in the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses.
Authorities released several photos of Boelter, including one taken Saturday that shows him wearing a cowboy hat and another that shows him wearing a latex mask at one of the victims homes.
Boelter is accused of fatally shooting Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband early Saturday, and of wounding state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in what authorities believe were politically motivated attacks. Both shootings occurred at the lawmakers' residences, which are located several miles apart.
Police were initially called to Hoffmans home following reports of gunfire. After responding, officers began conducting wellness checks on other lawmakers. Not long after, they encountered the suspect at Hortmans residence, where he fired several rounds at them before fleeing.

(191,074 posts)in the area. Hed have the advantage of looking like a cop generally which could him inside a door or at least get it initially opened. No one could have been very aware at 3:30-4:00am to what had happened.
Id say that the local cops, again at 3:30 am, very smartly and proactively went to the other house nearby where the other representative lived. They didnt get there in time but the killer wouldve been completely on the loose and in his car.

(1,344 posts)Kinda surprising how few details and photos there are, as I believe there is actual video of the guy and his voice? That'd be tremendously helpful to have for identification.

(124,531 posts)BELLE PLAINE, Minn.. (AP) Authorities searched a vehicle on a rural road outside Minneapolis on Sunday that they believe had been used by the man wanted in the shootings of two Democratic lawmakers, as a state on edge struggled to make sense of the brazen political violence that left one leader dead.
Former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed in their Brooklyn Park home early Saturday. Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were injured at their Champlin home, about 9 miles (about 15 kilometers) away.
Authorities named 57-year-old Vance Boelter as a suspect, saying he wore a mask as he posed as a police officer, even allegedly altering a vehicle to make it look like a police car.
More than 24 hours after authorities first confronted him outside Hortmans home, Boelter was still on the loose after fleeing on foot. The FBI issued a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. They circulated a photo taken Saturday of Boelter wearing a tan cowboy hat and asked the public to report sightings.
