The Trump administration has requested an expedited appeal of a federal court ruling that blocked a series of decisions on vaccines made by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., including rescinding routine recommendations for immunizations against a half-dozen childhood diseases.
Mr. Kennedy announced in a social media post on Friday that the administration had filed the motion to expedite appeal so that federal vaccine advisers could meet to decide whether to recommend shots before the fall flu season.
The move is the latest development in a lawsuit brought by six medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics. The suit contended that Mr. Kennedy and his appointees to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had made arbitrary and capricious changes to the childhood vaccine schedule. It also argued that the panelists Mr. Kennedy appointed to the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices, a panel of outside experts, did not have the qualifications to recommend vaccinations and that their decisions endangered the health of Americans.
The ruling, delivered on March 16 by a federal judge in Massachusetts, temporarily blocked Mr. Kennedys policies while the trial continued. It froze all decisions made by the panelists Mr. Kennedy had appointed and prevented the committee from meeting as scheduled. Fridays announcement is the latest sign that the administration is seeking to revive the committee.

Today we filed a motion asking the First Circuit to expedite our appeal of the district court's order in the AAP lawsuit that left ACIPthe nation's vaccine advisory committeewithout a quorum. AAP opposes our motion.
I've been consistent from day one: I do not want to take ne. Our policy changes preserved access and coverage.
But the court's order has left ACIP unable to carry out its core responsibilities. As a result, the committee cannot issue new recommendations, review newly approved vaccines, or complete important work ahead of the fall flu season.
A functioning ACIP is essential to ensuring that vaccine recommendations remain grounded in evidence and available to the families and providers who rely on them.
Families, physicians, insurers, and public health programs deserve certaintynot paralysis.
That's why we're asking for expedited review. Our appeal seeks to restore a functioning ACIP so the vaccine recommendation process can continue, and families, physicians, and public health programs have the guidance they need.

I think the courts should expedite a slap-down of this clown's clowning.

(14,366 posts)Like the big announcement on 9/22/2025 that they found the "cause" of autism. Namely, Acetaminophen (which sort of contradicts that the cause is vaccines, but leaving that aside for the moment).
Yeah, sure, there was a meta-analysis in May 2021 that found a correlation. And they pointed to that study as the pretense for their announcement that they found "the cause" in Sept 2025.
Remember, RFK, Jr. promised to find the cause of autism by September, so when they had made no more progress than decades of legitimate research had, they resurrected that study for their big announcement. See, we said we'd find the cause by September, and lo and behold, we did!!!
The only problem is that a massive, landmark sibling-comparison study published in JAMA in April 2024 demonstrated that the correlation between prenatal acetaminophen use and autism is not causal.
That study, disproving the so-called "cause" announced with much fanfare was published a year before the lunatic RFK, Jr. made his promise that he would find the cause by Sept.

(2,780 posts)...PFAS, microplastics, junk food, etc. Far more likely than a rare use of acetaminophen.
