Trump Official Argues Greenland Takeover Could Bring Back Red Lobster's Endless Shrimp
Source: HuffPost
A Trump administration official is defending President Donald Trumps controversial vow to acquire Greenland by touting the benefits it would have for a fast casual restaurant chain.
Tom Dans, whom Trump appointed as the chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission in December of last year, made the eyebrow-raising suggestion in an interview with The New Yorkers Ben Taub published last week.
According to Taub, Dans declined to speak on the record about Trumps fixation on seizing Greenland for the U.S., but nonetheless offered a narrow, symbiotic vision as to why such an acquisition was a good idea.
My view is that the United States could take all the seafood Greenland could produce and cut out the middleman, and keep it from China and you could bring back all-you-can-eat shrimp at Red Lobster, Dans said.

(7,405 posts).... he is fixated on sea food vendors. I would have thought the chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission would be some sort of scientist. My mistake. Silly me.

(677 posts)Was my first reaction. I'm from the Gulf and thought shrimp needed warm water. Shows what I know. Norther Prawns make up 40% of Greenland's exports.
Who knew? Not me.
Still no reason to steal land from a long time ally and disenfranchise a nation of people.

(9,588 posts)Deeper into the story is that in the lead-up to Trumps third run for office, Tom Dans' brother, Paul Dans, was at the Reich-wing intellectual whorehouse, The Heritage Foundation, "leading the effort to draft a blitz of executive actions and policies that became known as Project 2025."
A whole family of shits.

(2,597 posts)Sure, what American doesn't care more about the availability of endless shrimp at a mediocre chain than the health of the country?
Judging by this failed administration, too many.
