Trump and Vance abandoned America's founder's values in their treatment of Zelenskyy. We're in trouble, people.

https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2025/03/trump-vance-openly-abandon-americas.html

For the first time in American history, a sitting President of the United States abandoned a fellow democratic world leader of a developing democracy at war with an avowed enemy of the United States. Delivering a litany of distortions, outright lies, and an especially false narrative invoking the name of former President Biden, Trump loudly proclaimed to the world that the ideals of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and all of America's founding fathers are no longer honored or practiced by his Presidency.

Never before has the United States abandoned a country in which there were people who were committed to building a constitutional democracy, and bringing the kind of freedom we enjoy as Americans to a group of people whose history has never provided a place for them to experience this kind of freedom. But our current President only sees the world, and measures it, in terms of monetary value. Idealism is well beyond his grasp, unless it can be turned into something off of which to make a profit, and he's not above stealing even that from the American people for his own personal benefit.

The world watched that press conference today, which showed the President and Vice President of the United States cannot be trusted to tell the truth, are not honest men, and one is a weak sycophant, while the other is an insane egomaniac. They showed that the United States does not have competent leadership, a position that makes us extremely vulnerable to our enemies. Their blatant misrepresentation of the United States, especially the lies they told, borders on treason. The false narrative they spouted puts the United States and its diplomatic corp around the world, those that Musk hasn't fired yet, in grave danger.

The United States is in major trouble. We have a man who has his finger on one of the world's biggest nuclear triggers who is suffering from dementia, who is exhibiting a high level of cognitive decline, who cannot control his rage and his emotions, and who does not have a realistic grasp on any aspect of world politics.

We sponsored some coups where we chose exploitive resource capitalism over constitutional democracies because a left-leaning leader was elected who threatened to nationalize resource industries.

Central and South America come to mind. And honestly, Trump has done this at least once before, when he went to the Taliban to negotiate the US exit from Afghanistan without consulting their Democratically elected government.

I can't think of anyone we walked away from, though, who was at war with one of our enemies.

…we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty.

Or we just won’t. We will say trite little things like, loose paraphrase “ I did not hear a thank you”. We will hold up allies in their darkest hours, take anything of value from them or feed them to the bear.

(Yes, it was later supported by Congressional legislation so its existence does not depend on that EO, but it originated in an executive act to create an executive-branch agency to to implement and consolidate goals/initiatives mandated/legislated by Congress.)

That was neither leadership nor negotiating.
