Jeff Tiedrich - Preznit Fuckwit to American citizens stranded in the Middle East: 'sucks to be you'

‘please do not rely on the US government for assisted departure or evacuation at this time. there are currently no United States evacuation points.’
— the recorded message you hear when you call the Office of Overseas Citizens Services hotline.

hey, are you an American citizen currently in the Middle East? are you freaking the fuck out right now, because bombs are raining down all over the place? does it feel like you have a target painted on your back? are you trying to find a way to get home as quickly — and as safely — as possible?

if so, the United States government would like to convey the following helpful message: ‘too fucking bad for you.’

here’s a heartwarming story of what happens when rock-bottom stupidity meets a depraved indifference to human life on a mass scale.

After the first gulf war and there were some car bombings, one major one that killed about 7 people. Many were injured. (I had a friend that worked in that building. She had left her office-I can’t remember why- and after the bomb went off her office was gone.)
For weeks, the American school set up chicanes at the entrance to the school and every vehicle was checked under the carriage for explosives when entering. In a whole school faculty meeting about the situation, we asked questions about what happens if we needed to evacuate.
We were told that the US would only evacuate military personnel, their families, or government officials. Expats that were employed in the Kingdom by private companies, would need to ask their company for help or find their own way out. Luckily, we never had to evacuate.
But, that always stuck in my mind.
