More than a week after the collapse of Kevin McCarthy as speaker, House Republicans have managed to resolve a showdown between Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan without actually producing a replacement speaker of the House and remain nowhere close to dealing with the actual job of governing and performing the roles they were sent to Washington to fulfill.
