I'm at the ER, weighed myself before bed and have gained almost three pounds since this morning.
I've felt less comfortable today compared to yesterday, really unable to find a position that allowed me to rest or sit comfortably.
They've taken X-rays,drawn blood and so now I wait..
Update.
I get to go home!!!
All my blood work and X-rays came back looking good so the gave me two shots of 20mg Lasix and will send in a script for more. Barnes Jewish Said they would call me in the morning so all in all about as wonderful a result as I could have asked.
My nurses name was Hope. I swear there is something spiritual at work through all of this

(30,714 posts)they will pull the fluid out and you will immediately feel better. Keep weighing and keep watching. Big hugs my friend. You will heal. This is not abnormal but serious. You've got this.

(30,714 posts)I think the key may be movement. Walking in the house. My friend does figure eights because her apartment is small.
Now you know the signs of distress. Keep checking weight and blood pressure, but don't be obsessive.
Big hugs my friend.

(2,102 posts)I've been doing end to end walks, about 60 feet each way. Been doing about ten-twelve round trips every day.
Not going to be obsessive lol, but am keeping a log as they suggested at discharge.

(30,714 posts)Mr. WT's surgeon told him that in about 3 months, he would wake up and say to himself, I feel great. Now that didn't happen for my beloved, but after 3 years of crappy doctoring, he's better all the time. YOU however, are going to wake up soon and feel great with blood coursing through your body.

(2,102 posts)You guys are making me feel great until my body takes over. The pain and shortness of breath I keep feeling make this tough but that's normal for this stage of recovery.
You give me feelings of hope, comfort and emotional support that no drug could provide. I feel better every day because of your love at this point and for that, I'm tearfully grateful.

(30,714 posts)that's what they're for...to alleviate pain. Take them on time because it's harder to overcome pain than to manage it. Talk to the doc about your shortness of breath. That's a sign of something.

(62,737 posts)I feel like we all need to look out for each other, including spiritually, along with keeping our mental health positive when we are down physically.
A friend of mine was born at Barnes Jewish almost 50 years ago. His father interned there, I think.
I didn't have to go there thank God as they are 75 miles from me.
The folks at Fayette County Hospital took great care of me.
