Years later, my buddie would borrow it from me to play at the beginning of our group of friends' many parties.

This was In San Francisco back in the '70's & 80's.
(My friends were mostly from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho + a few, like myself, from other places as well.)

If one or two of us were invited to a party, the whole group would show up, usually at least 20 people.

My buddy would get to the party early, and with the party's host's permission, he would put on Surfin Bird as the first record.

It was a great song to begin a party with.
