(162,387 posts)Huskies are escape artists and this dog was left in a garage by herself. One of my middle child's workmates rescued this dog three times while jogging. Skye was escaping to get attention. Before we escaped proof the back yard, Skye would get out and find someone to talk to her. This was despite the fact that gets cuddles all day.
I am happy for this dog

(52,948 posts)Many heart attacks and grey hair. My next/last baby was a sweetie pie and she only ran away 3 times when she was in fear and not in my care. Thank goodness!!! A lost dog is like having your heart ripped out of your chest. Thank god I chose not to have kids....I'd be a wreck if one got lost.

(162,387 posts)The GPS is nice in that we are alerted if the puppy is more than 300 feet from house. This minimizes the puppy's head start.

(328 posts)The dog looks so happy. It warmed my heart to see him running with his person. The world could use more people like this young man.

(23,250 posts)the ones that go into the poor areas of town where people have a hard time just getting their animals to a vet.
I saw them years ago in Washington at the World Conference for animals and they were great. Especially for the males because they are very easy to fix.
I just thought about something. What if we could get one of these things and give everyone who brought a dog or cat to it a gift card to a restaurant or a pet store?
I would happily donate money to something like this but more importantly I think wealthy people would donate big money toward it

(27,801 posts)from the local shelter. The vet there cautioned me, saying, "This cat might live two years, or it might live two months. Plus, she's on a special (read expensive) diet for an old cat." Not a problem. I'd had old cats before, had dealt with the special diet thing, and was good with it all.
Sadly, Fiona only lived with me two and a half weeks, but I am so glad I had her that short time. She was sweet and affectionate. I think her original owner was an older lady like me, which helped. And I'm so glad she didn't have to spend her last two weeks in the shelter.

(328 posts)What a kind, selfless, loving thing to do. I have two senior cats (14 and soon-to-be 14) and if I outlive them, I plan to get a senior cat or two. I would hate to see an older cat live out her final years in a shelter.
