Come from an animal that was (ever) a dire wolf?

(and, yeah - the blatant self promotion and self congratulations - coupled with the willing collaboration in sensationalizing ...... Grrrrrr ! )

In (minor) self defense of the 'media' - many publications did report, right from it's inception, what the real substance of the science and 'achievement' was here. But the 'Dire Wolf !' headline ... Proved to be just too juicy.
