A Pandora rant of no importance, just venting

Finally sprang for the ad-free option after using the service for years, which gives me unlimited skips and repeats.

One of my stations is for David Bowie. I had about an hour of downtime between jobs today and was listening in my vehicle, when it occurred to me that I’d “thumbs-downed” a lot of songs in a row, so I started counting.

204 songs before they got to Bowie, plus the dozen or so before i began my count.

It’s not as though he has a small catalog, and the selections they offered weren’t exactly sensible choices. Toby Keith, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Vanilla Ice, etc. I rejected almost all of the 204 on sight, but there were a handful of good titles in there too, just not Bowie. On my David Bowie station.

What the hell kind of algorithm are they using? I never noticed this with the ad-funded version, certainly not to this extent.

//end of trivial rant
