Mine are almost all black but I seem to have ones that don't match others. I only have a few that are perfectly matched.
Am I the only one who has a drawer FULL of black socks that don't match?
I know I need to get a grip....

(29,173 posts)...at the pediatric office were wearing mismatched socks. One of the moms told me that there was a store called Mixie's that sold socks in sets of 3 - a mix of patterns in the same color combos, like plaid, polka dots, and flowers all in pink and orange, or blue and green, etc. No longer in business.

But please don't write in it.
With 4 cats, there are times when you could.

(1,926 posts)Now, after the laundry, making pairs out of socks is easy.
Lose one? There's plenty more where that came from.

(14,148 posts)You might see them sometimes run over in the road or drowned in a muddy puddle. Still, some must make it to freedom and a match with another rebellious sock in a far off secret place.

(27,119 posts)I keep a bag in my cabinet that sometimes if I find the match to that stray sock I rematch them. And I also put my dirty socks in a zippered washable bag and it eliminates that missing sock. My husband has his own bag he puts his socks in. So when I do laundry I can pair his up after washing.

(68,063 posts)I won't lose socks on the few steps from my laundry room to my bedroom where I fold the laundry. I'll go to Amazon and get a zippered bag now!

(68,063 posts)And they are different weights, too. Some are warmer and those you wear in winter to keep your feet warm. Some are lighter weight and those you wear in the summer when it's hot.

(16,698 posts)was going to answer your original message but it got me thinking about why I have so many! I have lighter weight socks, warmer socks, cotton socks, wool socks, athletic socks, non skid socks for walking around the house, knee socks, Muppet socks for fun, slipper socks, dress socks - and perhaps this is why I have a drawer full of socks! I don't really manage them. I try to wash socks only with other socks and underwear which seems to have cut back on finding single socks stuck to other clothes.

I refuse to sew any holes and socks do not last anymore so I am ending up with all these 1 socks and save because I buy a lot of the same kind.
I sort them by color and type, knee high very few, ankle and just above that.

(37,788 posts)What may be impossible is a sock draw where all the socks match.
The latter is consistent with my experience.

Pack up all the old socks, take them to a homeless shelter, get 8 new black ones.

(599 posts)So any two are a matched pair . I confess I have one pair left from the previous era but they have white toes and heels and are easy to spot. I read somewhere recently that lost sox come back as tupperware lids that don't fit anything.
