The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI posted earlier about my previous Sheltie howling whenever I said "Tuesday".
I found this old soundless video in my files of him doing just that. This thing must be 25 years old. Technology was kind of primitive back then it looks like, but you will get the idea. The video looks like it was made back in the caveman days.
Is it....
TUESDAY?????
IT'S TUESDAY!!!
Link below, very short video.

(16,563 posts)At first I thought he got upset for some reason by the word "Tuesday".
Maybe he was a secret fan of the actress Tuesday Weld?

(14,362 posts)Andy was also a tri-color Sheltie and he would do that if he heard the word "school" because there was a nearby grade-school campus where we would chase each other. One time when the place was covered in snow, he was chasing me and got stuck in a deep drift. I had to run back to free him when I noticed he wasn't right at my heels. He was undaunted and ran, looking behind at times to make sure I was chasing him. It was his absolute favorite thing to do. Shelties are the best dogs and the best friends, IMHO.

(37,384 posts)something delicious on the horizon for him.
or you said it with a sing-songy tone and he wanted to sing along.
whatever the reason, it's adorable.
my border collie/corgi girl always howled along when we sang happy birthday. then she'd get a piece of cake! (always yellow or white cake w/vanilla frosting--no chocolate)

(55,729 posts)My two little dogs would tilt their heads sideways whenever I said something that seemed like a question (a human voice changes when you ask a question). I would ask, "Do you want to eat jello?" or "Do you like flying a kite?". I have no idea why. After my first pup died I tried it with my second pup and she did it too. Dogs are the BEST!!!

(35,282 posts)I love you. We would meow it back and forth with each other.
I have a recording of her somewhere. Cassette tape. I wish I could find it.
Thanks for the discussion, LC.

(23,698 posts)Have you tried opening it with different apps? Maybe make a copy and experiment. I thought I had clips like that that recorded without sound, but accidentally opened with an alternate program on my laptop and got audio.
